This game is nothing but a masterpiece!! It NEEDS to be released on current generation consoles. Maybe remastered, as it's already graphically beautiful. There are only a handful of games like Rule of Rose in which we totally sense how artsy it is. It's delicate, beautiful and rich in metaphors which leaves a lot of interpretations for the player. Unfortunately, only a few can understand the importance of this kind of game to the history of games and game development. It deserves to be played by generations ahead and studied by game design students on how to construct such a deep complex and beautifully intriguing plot and masterfully make it work as a game. Rule of Rose is a cult-classic game that pushes you to a newer (deeper) level of story design in games like only a book or movie could do it. It's a psychological horror game in it's pure and glorious essence! * Soundtrack is stunning!!

Also needs to have better gameplay. Its a very flawed game, video games is a mediam that requires both active playing and story. If one of those are so flawed the enjoyment of the game is interrupted its no longer a good game regardless of how excellent one part is executed.

Pastel Palette to me the combat it's not perfect, but you can go with it. The main problem is the hitbox and the enemy detection: sometimes it works, sometimes the game decides that you didn't hot one single enemy.

I got this game two years ago for 400€, the most expensive piece in my horror collection along with Kuon. Despite the high price, I don't regret anything: this is a true masterpiece, a beautiful treasure of storytelling, and one of the few games that made me cry. Easily one of my favourite PS2 games.

I just finished this game about a week ago and I can’t stop thinking about it. This story was so tragic, so unsettling, so good. It dethrones Silent Hill 2 for me. Just the story. If it had great combat it would be a 10/10 for the time.

@@Vangell1s haha oh man don’t make me eat my own words! It’s a hard one for sure, but I think this still holds up. It’s hard to say too cause I’m such a massive fan of all the silent hill games. Even the shitty ones I pull through just cause I love the world and atmosphere of the franchise. SH2 is definitely a masterpiece. Rule of Rose has really stuck with me though. I was so heartbroken for Jennifer at the end of Rule of Rose and I really felt terrible when you get the flashback of her promising Brown she’ll protect him forever. I think that’s why I hold it at a higher regard. It really really made me feel something whereas SH2 is tragic in its own way and an all around great story, but I just didn’t have that lasting emotion where I think about it from time to time and my stomach sinks. There’s so many profound things to read in the epilogue too that connect the dots on all the symbolism of the enemies and there was one line in particular where Jennifer goes up to the mirror and asks herself if she’s happy about who she became or something like that and I just sat there like damn.. this game is brutal. it’s honestly a shame that there’s so many people who haven’t played it.

@@sickasmalaria I am a fan of the first 4 silent hill and origins and I always thought they were the best survivor horrors/games in history, until years later I played rule of rose, it is such a strange game that I could not explain well what I love about it, is it its story? its characters? its ost? its atmosphere? man I don't know but I love it as much as the silent hill saga. And yes it's a shame that few people know it, but at the same time I feel grateful to have been able to discover rule of rose.

Capcom re-released digitally Haunting Ground on the Japanese PSN PS3 store. They never made a mention about it . And its a shame as its a good horror game. Thank God I purchased that game at the right time.

Never seen this hidden gem of a game, but it looks both horrifying because of the messed up cult and amazing because of how it looked and from what i heard, basically it instanly hooked me when a person was explaining a little bit of the game, basically everything caught my attention from the get go. But what sold me the most was the fact of the cult the comment did say "it killed every adult and has now taken charge" it's terrifying, it's something new, and it's darn interesting, i would play it if it was on an nintendo switch, but it's probably not even there.
