Say you live in Manhattan and you finally found that great apartment -- but your window faces a concrete wall ten feet away. Atmoph, a company that produces a digital frame that plays videos of what you might see outside a window in many places around the world, is hoping to fill that void for a real view that you might have. Kyohi Kang and his team send videographers around the world to shoot video of exotic locales like Cuba or Rome, and the video plays back at a very high fidelity on the screen, making it seem like you're looking right outside at the scene. It's available for $599 -- so you'll have to decide whether or not that price is worth it to sate your craving for a fresh view of nature instead of that view of a brick wall.

Its programmable to turn on and off on schedule, enabled for task scheduling/calendar, unique add on lighting for external light, and camera tracking, plus unique window design and panorama capability. The 4k videos are unique and is used with camera to change viewing angle, I think it has a market separate from tvs at the moment. I don't think the price is terrible, but I'd like it to be a little cheaper, perhaps discount for more panels.

I would only be interested in something engineered to install Into my wall that actually LOOKS like a window ...duhh obviously you can just put video on any TV screen but that entirely misses the whole point...btw this presentation entirely FAILS to show us the actual physical product and how it would look in/on a wall....my dream is a large display cut right into the wall to look exactly like a real window and then I would want like Alexa control to instantly switch view ....not interested in simply using playing it on TV....NOT the same cool thing as a virtual window

lol saw a product like this before but it actually looked like a real window which was nice, the bad thing was, since it actually looked like a window it sort of had to be fitted like a normal window thus requiring a shit ton of time and effort and know-how to install.

It's way over priced , I can buy a flat screen tv , put a frame around it and install my own video .

If it really tricked the mind into almost believing you had an apartment with a great view that would be cool but somehow I think it'll just be a bit like having your TV on your wall showing the images from Google Chromecast. Also perhaps it needs to be sold inside a fake window frame! Not a picture frame which will just make the images look like a work of art not the great view through your window.

ive been thinking of making one of my childhood bedroom window, which my kid brother now occupies, recording the sounds of the dutch city i grew up in coming from my old window. Could be fun as an older man to have windows of all my houses through my life. (They say sound and taste trigger the memory the clearest in old age)

Me too. The key FOR SENIORS is that it CANNOT DISCONNECT from the internet. Why? Because it's NOT CONNECTED to the internet. You CAN connect it to download videos. But after that, there is ZERO connectivity issue for seniors to worry about. THIS is the #1 problem for seniors - losing connectivity and the INABILITY to figure out how to trouble shoot, get back on line, make a phone call to provider, get someone to help, restart, etc. Once it's on, they can choose from hundreds of videos that are on the hard drive.

They should strap a camera to it, use facial recognition to see if there is someone looking, track his eye position and adjust the perspective. It can only give correct perspective to one person at a time but that would be already great. Without such a feature, this is just a TV.

This is neat, but this is more of a video in a frame. I'm looking for fully 3D views that you can program on the windows in your home to change your views.

I believe this is possible. Came here after having the idea myself and searching for it. I imagine multiple connected panels connected to a system that eye/head track your position in the room and display proper parallax as you walk through your room creating the truly immersive experience. limited to one person in the room at a time, multiple people would never work this way.

If you're using a monitor, you can run cinematic landscapes in SteamVR and always have it on. You could easily do this with a Raspberry Pi. Then all you need to do is wear a tracker. Either use your phone as a tracker, or a smartwatch or something. That way it'll be a 3D space that changes depending on where you are located. The only issue is making the tracker always face forward towards the monitor, only allowing you to do WASD-movements. If you're wearing the tracker, it'll disconnect once you leave the room of course, but who cares about the window view when you can't even see it? Slime-VR is going to release some very affordable trackers soon, and they have already provided how to build one on your own. These trackers don't need high tech basestations to work (such as HTC VIVE) etc.

You're not. You're three years late, or are you?. This window doesn't have perspective at all. What they're doing is basicly 1. Take a vertical tv 2. Put it inside a frame 3. Put it on a wall.
