Hi there, thank you so, so much for posting these videos!! so impressed with the techniques offered and indeed, using only three colours and a few brushes. So many guides tell one that one needs a whole lot of materials, costs add up and one is sometimes put off even trying. New to watercolour - my wife loves it - I am an oil man - trying out watercolours soon!! Blessings in these crazy times!! Keep safe.

Thanks so much James! Limited colours and materials make things so much easier as well! So pleased your wife loves it! Take care both of you! Happy painting :)

Thrilled with this project I completed over a couple of days. I did all of the sky first so I didn’t have an entire sheet of white, wet paper to panic about! I couldn’t find Indian Red in the QOR range so used their Pyrrole Light red instead which gave the picture a more violet cast, especially the sea. It just failed a bit on the foreground where I couldn’t achieve a twiggy brown, so adapted to a grassy style. I learned the very light shadings right at the beginning make such a difference ... and of course the splatter! The birds are a real feature. Big thanks 😊

This is a beautiful painting! I have a tube of Indian Red, but haven't used it often; the effect with Naples Yellow and Ultra Marine is wonderful! I also like the idea of using a twig to paint. I'll definitely give that a try!

Karen, do you remember the winter of 2008/9 ? I was living in Porthmadog and this piece reminds me of the snow that fell on the beach there, (Black Rock Sands) it was amazing. Anyway, another inspirational session and I concur with Tina Schmidt, maybe it's time to get a book out ... Big wave from The Sheffield Peak District, Pabi 👋🎨

A bientôt. Danielle
