AtomMan G7 Ti Review - POWERFUL 14900HX + RTX 4070 SFF PC

Hey Chris, Glad to see that you're reviewing this PC. The Ethernet Port is 2.5G and one correction, the USB4 port can actually output 8k@60Hz, not 30Hz. It supports 4K@120Hz without DSC and 4K@144Hz with DSC enabled. One really good thing about this PC is that unlike 99% of gaming laptops where despite 140W RTX configuration, RTX 4070 goes barely over 110W due to Nvidia's voltage limitation, this one can has been configured by Minisforum to reach full 140W, if required. I was watching another performance review of this PC and in most of the games, it was hitting 125W all the time, the base TGP of 4070 and in games like Cyberpunk, it was hovering around 130W-140W. Combined with 14900HX, true 140W 4070 and that beefier cooling, it actually performs better than most Gaming laptops with same spec.

Oh okay it is 2.5G they never seem to list that on their website thanks for the corrections. As for that RTX 4070 eventually I did see it hit 135-140W but not in most games, normally it would be around 115W. OveralI really like it and using it as my video editing machine.

This is a nice device. Probably no one should buy it because as you stated, at this price just buy a laptop with similar specs.

It's a very odd one, because it's about the same price as a 14700HX/14900HX laptop with RTX 4070 and you normally get a QHD+ screen

Too add further if you look at current market it is laptop specs but comparable to it the laptops with similar specs are more expensive.

It depends on what market, Europe yes more expensive the laptops if the US about the same with BF Deals. Overall I really like this PC so powerful and edits my videos like a dream I edited this very video on the PC and it went flawlessly.

Minisforum putting interesting stuff for several years now. I think this has better reliability than a laptop with similar parts. Wish they put an LCD and back stand there to justify the price.

11:49 what do you mean by intel quicksync making it faster? Isn't the encoding time entirely depends on the GPU ( the 4070 here for example). Or can you make both the Quicksync + Cuda to work at the same time in premiere pro ? If that's the case I been wasting the performance of my 12700K for so long.

Yes you can have both GPU + iGPU Quciksync at the same time, it's been like that for years with Premiere Pro. Just look at the resource monitor and the CPU is loaded up, GPU and iGPU it makes a big difference with Quicksync + cuda cores.

Why not Oculink? I just don't understand them at Minisforum.

It's odd because some models have Oculink but I think because this has the dGPU they didn't bother.

@@Techtablets I can explain why. For OCulink port, you need 4 PCIe Gen 4 lanes. Most of the Mini PCs don't have a dedicated GPU; so they can leverage 4 Lanes dedicated to the dGPU for an OCulink Port. i9-14900HX has total 20 PCIe lanes and in this mini PC, 8X lanes are being used for the 2 NVMe SSD slots, 8X for the RTX 4070 and the 4X for the rest of the components like the Wi-Fi card and the USB4 port. So, it literally does not have any PCIe Gen4 lanes available to have a OCulink Port.

Thanks for the review! I think this is a niche product that fits my specific use case very well. None of the reviews mentioned this and I am trying to figure out before I pull the trigger. Do you think we can lay the laptop flat on the non-venting side? Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Yes you can but it has no feet, however vents up it will be fine.

Honestly I like it. It's basically a more power efficient PC without the bulk and power draw of a regular PC. Sure it's quirky and way too expensive for it's price but as a desktop replacement, it's fair. At least not for the current price tho.

You’re spot on. I’ve heard people say “well aren’t all of the mini pc’s just that?” While they’re not wrong. This machine and its predecessor, the NUCXi7 literally have laptop motherboards. I’m 100% certain that the NUCXi7 actually had the headers for a screen, keyboard and touchpad. This one I can’t be so certain, only because I don’t have hands on experience with it.

Seems to be the same price in USD. I guess the USD and Euro are not too far off parity at the moment but we probably save a few bucks in USD.

RTX 4070 Mobile is the biggest scamiest mobile GPU in last decade. Nvidia charging 70 series premium but giving just 8GB VRAM and with a voltage lock (which is why it never goes beyond 115W) , it becomes the first 70 series GPU which fails to even "match" the previous gen 80 series. The 4070 Mobile just manages to be on-par with 3070Ti mobile at 1440p. Bdw your CP2077 Benchmark was with FSR turned on.

Love your many reviews and got quite a bit out of it. Thanks for doing these. Very useful and great reviews. Quick question. I do quite a bit of video editing using the various Adobe solution inc. After Effect, Premier Pro, etc. Looking for a mini computer to be able to take with me with folding screen and use on the road. How does this mini compares to the G7 PT Mini PC AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX (16C/32T,8 GB GDDR6 AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT, 32GB DDR5 RAM 1TB PCIe4.0 SSD Mini Gaming PC) Tried the Beeline SER9 AI and was very disappointed but not totally surprise since the GPU is integrated. Hence looking for another option. Looking forward to reading your input.

If you want upgradeability, specifically GPU and CPU, the mini pc market or even the laptop or mobile device market isn’t for you and that’s okay. The mini pc market moves fast as new CPU’s and GPU’s are released. It’s just knowing when to buy where you’re buying a product you’ll be satisfied with taking into account your use case. Guaranteed that there’s going to be a similar model after the 50 series from NVIDIA releases. Calling it a scam isn’t very insightful when you don’t consider the similarities across other mobile products.
