Atomos CEO Jeromy Young at CES 2019 ProRes RAW on the Atomos Ninja V & Nikon Z6 Z7

Jeromy is always so positive! When talking with him about the Shogun Inferno/Sumo, did you find out if we’d be able to record Nikon raw with those recorders, or is this Ninja V only?

Jared Caldwell thanks for the comment! The new chip in the Ninja V sounds like it is the only one that can handle it and that it will be used in upcoming models. The older models can not handle the repacking of the HDMI data is what we were informed. We can’t wait to shoot 12 Bit!

nikon z6 with 6k raw recording & 12bit!!! what frame rates are going to be supported? im guessing wider than the standard list? id buy the z6 tomorrow if there were more lenses.. the sony a7s3 is going to have to take note.

What about supporting prores raw in panasonic gh5? any comment?

Save Michael that’s up to Panasonic to enable out of the camera over hdmi. If they gave the camera an update and allowed it to send raw over hdmi then the ninja could capture it

Perfect timing for ME! Already returned my Nikon D7500 (bought November) so I can step up to the Z6 and Ninja V (since I’ve got Nikkors going back to filming they Indonesian in younger days... sigh) Shooting my 1st play - Very stagy (BBC Bastardpiece Theater) - and I’m looking to grab as much as possible when I have limited time with actors and set - so RAW with my MacBook Pro and FCPX seems to be the BEST way to go at a relatively low cost.

A killer feature would be the ability to also use the Ninja V as a stills photo monitor that allows for viewing and checking focus of .NEF Raw files over HDMI. In addition, recording JEPEG and .NEF raw files to the SSD on the Ninja will also be awesome. Exactly the same set up, over HDMI.

As a Ninja 2, Ninja Flame and hopefully Ninja V.... if I get a format to use my Z6 raw footage in Davinci resolve and PC. For me the obvious choice is the BRAW format from Blackmagic which is open source, same as Avid Dnxhd, which is the reason I can use the Ninja flame with my system.

Does grading Prores raw require large amounts of computer processing and memory.

Brian Hammerstein thanks for noticing! That’s the new Sennheiser G4 500 series running at max rf output . e835 capsule on the handheld. Not a single drop out at the busiest electronics show in the country.

And yet Atomos still can't fix the 16-235/0-255 input level mismatch...
