This is a product for livestreaming on social media with a higher quality camera

you guys missed the point of this competly, the product is more for remote workflows, it lets you send you content back for proxie editing right away. This is going to be extreamly usful for anyone who has to contribut content from the field. or to social media streaming. for my use the iphone would become a production tool not my main phone.

Good monitors are so cheap now it’s hard to argue why this would be better. You can even get a ninja v for about the same price. The Accsoon semo does the same thing for a lot less which I feel fits the target market better. This does do 10 bit which is impressive but seems a lot for what it is. Also the ‘do everything’ on your phone in the filmmaking industry is getting a bit ridiculous now. Monitoring, recording, lighting control, camera control, gimbal/slider control etc that’s before actually using it as a smartphone! I feel like you’d need 3 or 4 phones on set to make proper use of them all.

Great price for US. Canadian's have to pay $549 (Unit) + $80 for the actual case

Complaining about an esata port and required adapter on the Atomos (which is included in the package) and preferring the storage on the iphone, which requires the crappy consumption-oriented iOS filesystem is a bit backwards (and mental) when further considered.

It's not affordable, and the only advantage of Atomos is there recording capability. They would have sold a lot more if they had released a recording-only device without a screen at the same price.

Between this phone bracket thing (1080? Is that right?) and the LED tube thing Atomos looks kind of adrift. They have a good base of monitors and recorders with all the leadership problems they have had the last few years, I’m not surprised the product line is looking disjointed.

I think the reason you get this over the shinobi is for live streaming!

“Relatively cheap for what it is?” !!! Not sure how you can say that!! You paid by atmos?

The lockable cables are the best thing about this product, the rest just ultimately leaves you scratching your head......and feels like Blackmagic camera's which are good but just make you think they might primarily exist to push their own ecosystem more than meet the actual end needs of their users.

It will be useful if they make a version that works with Android devices.

Should have had its own storage (a cfast card).....otherwise it's ultimately just a shameless 'encouragement' product to also RENT their cloud service....unless you're happy paying the huge Apple-tax for non-removeable storage.

Definitely more gimmick than reality. For anything other than a single run n gun shooter with a very low budget, no one wants to use their phone as a monitor because they need their phone for production most of the time. And if you’re a single shooter type, then just buy a less expensive monitor. No idea what kind of professional would actually use this on set.

Total gimmick. Another cash grabbing scheme from Atomos. They "forgot" to mention that it only records 1080p. So 399 USD + 60 USD for case, then new IPhone came out, another 60 USD. Don't forget that Ninja is limited artificially by firmware/software so Atomos can sell you additional features. That's Atomos for you. They're the EA games of camera gears.
