Tip for those building this from scratch. The factory solder points to the wing connectors are god awful. I would recommend getting all your soldering done to that area as the first thing you do, then filling it up with hot glue or something that'll keep the wires in place. As you build the plane and move the connectors around, it's very very likely one of those tiny wires is going to come loose, and once you've glued that thing into the plane it's damn near impossible to fix.

This looks like an excellent FPV platform - It will all depend on the final price and availability of a basic kit. In my eyes, it's what the Eachine Airloader should have been in the first place! AtomRC makes some quality kits... But, size-wise this is very close to the cheap, tried, and proven Mini Talon. If the price is kept low (highly unlikely) I am definitely getting one.

I'm a bit conflicted about this model. I like the wing connectors (I put similar ones into my Binary), but the tail looks flimsy and impractical for transport. They should really provide a nose piece for when you don't want to put an action camera there.

Well done Andrew, flies good...I think those weak 4 inch pitch quad props aren't helping TBH, it needs like at least 6 inch pitch...It's a plane, not a quad. Maybe try some 8 inch X 6 bi blade props?.... Undercarriage was great, exactly what's needed for easy ROGs and landings...🤔😀😀👍👍😯😳🇬🇧

They really did put quite some thought into designing it with all those hatches. I can imagine that you might have to use a car battery to get your cg right if you intend to use the rear-facing actioncam ( tons of flight time :D ). The only thing i don’t like is the blunt nose. I have no idea of aerodynamics but it just looks wrong.

Nice informative review. Great looking design. That square chin on the front is however concerning (as you mentioned). Both for landings and due to aerodynamic effects. Wish model designers would include a front aerodynamic foam option like they do for the upper camera deck. Guessing .. if an aerodynamic shaped foam nose were added to the front it would likely drop power consumption by 1/2 an amp. I'm a bit confused by the push to have lower-front sport cameras planes in a fixed mount. I'd think if going to trouble of using a hi-res sport camera, then one would want to use a gimbal for image stabilization?

Taking closer look at Dolphin Flying Wing; it has a nice functional nose. Being that a killer whale (aka orca) is a member of dolphin family, there might be hope for such an option. ;) AtomRC appears to have done a nice job with both designs.

Nice video, thank you! I was wondering if you measured your 70mm CG at the root cord or by the CG bumps on the outer part of the wing? Either way, that seems to be about 20mm rearward of the bumps, and honestly, I'm not surprised since it seems to me many manufactures recommend a too far forward CG. I'm getting ready to maiden mine soon, and any feedback is appreciated :)

Thanks so much for the detailed review and flight test. I don't care how a plane looks as long as it is aerodynamic and efficient, easy to transport and assemble. This one doesn't seem to be neither good looking nor very aerodynamic. Though I like the way they combined the motor case, creating airflow for the ESC and at the same it covers the flap servo and mechanic. Having a silent plane is fantastic, then you can fly without bothering anyone enjoying the nature on the ground level, which is overall much more relaxing rather than creating everybody's attention. The twin vertical stabilizers looks flimsy and probably create unnecessary drag as well as this huge terribly shaped fuselage. Then two rudder servos, really?! Looks like the designer used to previously make RC ship models, Whale is the right name for it. At least now it looks more like a shi? model with wings. So funny that their "Dolphin" model looks very sexy and is a fast flyer while this is the total opposite. The Albabird seems to be the better choice in this category.

They can be equally efficient as long as you’re not doubling the motor power/draw! Twins tend to fly great though - more stable than a single prop.

@@henryknox4511 Genuinely the first time I've heard that. Both of mine have been excellent foam, very dense EPO and perfectly moulded. Survived a few incidents without much damage at all.

@@Crunklefloop I got the replacement plastic kit for the dart xl or whatever it is. It has some nice leading edge protectors that fit perfect. I'd pay double the price for it if it came in a nice foam like the Goblins or draks I know the drak is epp but damn that's some really nice foam.

@@henryknox4511 Ah yes EPP is a lovely foam, very compressible. The trouble is that it doesn't mould in the same way as EPO which is why you'll often find the larger planes in EPO. I know that Finwing did originally try the Albabird in EPP but it wasn't suitable for the shapes needed hence the change to EPO. With some 75micron laminate it's pretty indestructible though!
