Had a warranty call on an Atosa under counter unit. Bad water level sensor and harvest sensor. They sent probes that were 9mm and the housing has an 8mm hole. I know this because they said I had to take pictures because they didn't believe me. Drove an hour and a half back to the location and took pictures with the micrometer. Now Atosa is paying for a 3rd trip out, meanwhile the customer is out of luck. Bunch of jackasses! Thanks for the video my friend.
@throttlebottle59062 жыл бұрын
so, just clean the probes? it's just schmutz buildup on them that insulates from the water and they no longer conduct enough current. similar to a dirty flame sense rod, no/low current flowing and non sense
@life_behind_bars2 жыл бұрын
@@throttlebottle5906 yeah that was the first thing we did. When that didn't work Atosa tech said to change them, and since it's warranty and I would like to get paid, we have to do what they tell us to do.

I've worked on a ton of Atosa low boy and reach in's. Never knew they made ice machines as well. Most of the units I've worked on (R-290) leak at the evap coil
@jochemsluis88342 жыл бұрын
Every evap coil will leak with what they put in the box. They stress the copper to make more surface area inside which makes the outside thin. I would see craters in copper walls and not leak back in the day. The walls are so thin any pressure test will break an evap. I had one that the whole run was stress too much it was leaking every fin. I ended up bypassing the run as they imported them directly.
@catherinelachance22392 жыл бұрын
There is another brand (also begins with A. Advantech maybe?). It started leaking within a year of purchase. R290. I looked all over soldered and glare connections first. Second stop was the evap and it was on the return bend. How the EPA can give us a shit ton of regs but not require manufacturers any standards is bullshit! Corrupted politicians strike again!

@JohnDippery2 жыл бұрын
is it the water pump making that high pitched, almost dog whistle sound at 5:50? A friend of mine has an atosa 450 and complained its making a high pitched whistle about 15 minutes after dropping ice and whistles or humms for about 90 seconds. Apparently its loud enough to bother restaurant customers.

Are those units R290? I'm afraid I'm going to start seeing them in my area soon, already have a ton of their junk reach-ins and prep tables being DOA warranty calls.
@NorCal-refrigeration2 жыл бұрын
Yes
@jphvac57252 жыл бұрын
Despise r290 due to limitations on refrigerant amounts being soo low. All new prep tables I’ve seen with 290 are junk within two years because of tiny leaks with only 6oz of refrigerant. How the hell is this the future?

Zero back up for spares here for that brand, even worse than Polar and thats saying something!
@throttlebottle59062 жыл бұрын
maybe suggest the customer order and stock their own spare parts, right when they buy the units new. then they can fiddle with warranty while their own stock repairs it. hopefully warranty gets them proper working parts, as is the pre-ordered spares. 🤣

Tell the customer considering an Atosa: Cheap to buy, expensive to service. Chinese equipment is not made with serviceability in mind (Chinese tech is pulling $15/hr), they take longer to pull apart, etc.

Atosa has their own warranty company in LA so we can't touch their trash. They are super unfriendly to other companies. Right now Atosa is also the only ice machine in-stock at most places and they are cheap so they are getting installed everywhere. Hoshi has a 30 week lead time at the moment.
@catherinelachance22392 жыл бұрын
One of my local companies found Blueair. The company designing them is in California. Pioneer in Massachusetts is the vendor for the northeast. Hoshizaki had a bunch of patents expire. These guys used that technology and you can see they are almost identical.
@brnmcc012 жыл бұрын
What about Manitowoc? They seem to still be in stock here, but limited. Haven't checked Scotsman lately, they're too expensive compared to Manitowoc. Not a big fan of the Hoshi design, pretty troublesome.
@catherinelachance22392 жыл бұрын
@@brnmcc01 I am in Maine. Manitowac is about 3-4 months. And we can not get remotes at all because the condensers are not available. Last I checked, a hoshizaki remote was available in about six weeks. I have been selling Blueair (built using a lot of Hoshizaki expired patents). The distributor in Massachusetts seems to be able to plenty keep of those in stock, giving me a 3-5 day lead time.
