That geography bee story is definitely one of those stories you remember differently through your kid eyes but that's not what really happened. What actually happened was Atrioc was too stupid to realize he kept getting things wrong, and when the judges tried telling him to get off stage he just sort of stood there bewildered. he eventually went against Tony Starks son, a literal genius who hadn't missed a single question, but because everyone knew how insanely smart and rich he was they felt like they had to give it to the special ed kid who had just stood there answering every question with 'lake titicaca' No one had the heart to tell him what actually happened.

When I was in 7th grade, my school hosted a geography bee, and I placed 4th in my middle school without studying, and got a 10 dollar gift card to target. The next year I learned a lot about countries and capitals and all that, and ended up not even making it to the school finals due to mixing up the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean. After that, I learned a lot more about geography, and am now a huge geography dork, however I’ve haven’t had another geography bee to prove myself so I feel like shit. Anyway I know where the Pacific Ocean is now. 🥲

For some fucking stupid reason i said portugal. Knowing the capital was “gran canaria” a spanish ass word. I thought bc it was technically closer to portugal, it was right, but alas.
