As a woman, I find Disney's pandering TO women embarrassing. The story lines feel like they were written the week before and the dialogue and campy jokes just make me angry that they are trying to make a stand for women. Carrie Fisher STILL has a following decades later. She was strong, smart and funny and had men help her when she got in over her head, like a man would use a woman when he got in over his head. I didn't even make it 10 mins in Acolyte.

It's 100 percent part of their marketing plan. I think what shocks them more is the indifference and apathy casual viewers feel for the show, so they have to rile people up by making them believe the root of the problem is the fans themselves. The casual audience find the show boring, they aren't gaining the audience they want, because people don't seem to care who is in it or what the story is about. Disney should be thanking the critics for watching, that's mostly why they get views at all. Casual audiences don't like boring shows.

My POV is that the original Star Wars was an amazing part of my children's childhood. It was waiting in line for up to 2 hours surrounded by the excitement of others. The smell of popcorn, rushing into the theatre to find good seats, the kids getting nervous about going to the restroom afraid they'd miss something, the pizza after to talk about the movie, it was counting the number of times we went to see the movies (for Mom it was also the Friday midnight showing where bottles and other items were passed around). Star Wars was the new American Apple Pie. Somehow, the platform for building nostalgia has been lost. There is room in the universe to make the show inclusive and grow it organically. It just seems that the universe is mot being allowed to breathe.

If your film or TV series is heartily disliked by millions of people, instead of accusing those people of being bigots, you might take a moment to ask yourself if your film or TV series is just terrible. Here is something interesting I've noted. All of these 'reporters' have cited 'the critics' when saying the show was a hit, but not one of these authors have ever said they themselves saw it and found it good. So, they have heard from others the show was good and because of what they've heard that means that the vocal minority of the toxic male majority is attacking the show. Why don't they watch the show themselves and then report on their opinion of the show vs specific examples of criticism by fans? I am not angry at Lucasfilm, I feel sad about them. The people at Lucasfilm are whining about the toxic fanbase for nearly a decade. And it doesn't seem that the fanbase gets less toxic anytime soon. Kathleen Kennedy seems to be more than happy to fight a war against windmills I mean the fanbase for the rest of her life.
