I’ve had some success with the walrus voyager with the same final settings. Interesting to hear it through a marshall relative to my ‘57 deluxe reverb. I’ve been using it to push the high end of the sound and have been swapping out a second overdrive behind the voyager. Helps with a really well rounded, thick sound and cuts through a mix well.

Love my oxblood. You can get such a wide range of sounds out of it from an absolutely killer boost through to a fuzz. I always find the tone control needs to be at around 2/3 of the way around as a starting point as it can get a bit wooly below that as demonstrated here (I guess this depends a lot on the amp etc though)

I like all these crazy blindfold tests, this pedal one has been quite informative for me on the tones of the pedals in question give out. Very helpful if your local guitar shop is a small business and can't stock every pedal available from the dealers they use.

Funny thing, most famous guitar players bought their signature sound equipment from small shops, other players they know etc. From their stories at least.
@sniffmatip38656 жыл бұрын
Frits van Zanten I come online to see what's new and different then go hit the local guy up to see if he can get a hold of what I'm looking for. You always pay £10-20 more on a lot of things but I don't mind because I'm supporting a local business on my doorstep.

I think the position of the Volume makes more of a difference in tonal quality more than anything else, the Oxblood changed completely. If Lee had played around with the volume knobs on the last few pedals, would have been a different outcome. Thanks for putting this up guys, nice to hear these all together! Waiting for pt. 2 with pedals like Matthews Architect, Tumnus v2, maybe even the Helix version! Cheers!

Apparently when Chappers called the Oxblood out as what he thought was the Mythos Klon, he had forgotten that the Captain told him that there were a couple of switches on the Oxblood. That was almost a dead give away for Oxblood or a JHS Custom Shop Mod of an EHX Soul Food. The KTR is Finnegan's remake of the original, glad it got the highest score. I think the Tumnus would need to be re-evaluated, because it was the first, there was nothing to really compare it to, although at a certain point that frame of reference is lost over 40 minutes with 10 Klons. I've listened to so many Klons to try to figure out which one I wanted recently, I can understand being Kloned out. Of the 3 at the very end, I liked the KTR myself, I thought the Oxblood was 2nd best of those 3 and the Tumnus a close 3rd. Every review & even Wampler himself, says the Tumnus is Wampler's own personal spin on a Klon, Wampler says he doesn't like to make a 1:1 clone copy, tends to add or deduct what he likes or dislikes from a clone to make it a Wampler pedal. FWIW, I heard enough in a Mosky Silver Horse review to go with a sub $ 30 Klon clone. That one has a soft & hard clipping switch, so it's probably would score somewhere in the range of any of these pedals. Would be interesting to revisit this and throw the Mosky Silver or Golden Horse into the mix. I don't think it would be as bad a score as the Walrus did, and easily as good as the Bad Horse ?
@RandyP98906 жыл бұрын
Gotta agree about the archer pedal, that sounded fantastic! That said, the whole lot was pretty impressive. Still can’t decide for myself between the archer or the tumnus.
@stoneysdead68922 күн бұрын
The Ox Blood isn't a clone of a Klon- but Robert did say he wanted to create the same tone as a Klon, but he didn't want to copy the circuit. He wanted to make his own circuit that captured the same tone and feel- and I think he got really close. If you think about it, it was a total flex- this is why he's such a legend in the pedal community- he's a true genius when it comes to creating a circuit and has so much general knowledge in the area, he can basically recreate whatever he wants without any need of copying someone else's schematic.

I think the final shootout with the 3 pedals should have been done by plugging them in separately or into separate loops, the buffers in the Tumnus and the KTR (assuming they weren’t switched to TB) would be coloring the resulting tones

I have watched many or most of the vids from Andertons on Klon like pedals. My take is that I prefer Danish Pete’s playing style - more nuanced and melodic, but Chapper’s ear is much more refined and discerning….I trust Chappers ear implicitly, even though his playing too metal orientated

I love how he chose KTR as the best. For my personal taste Wampler has the warmest and the Keeley has the most unique sound. I like how the oxblood can go from klon to 70's metal tone. Funny fact about the J.Rocket (7th) that almost everyone is obsessed about, Bill Finnegan(the creator of Klon Centaur) authorized J Rocket to make the klon but ended up not liking their quality somewhere down the line so they had a falling out. I love JHS but i always thought that their modded Soul Food didn't have anything special. Which sells for crazy amounts on the second market. Actually it must be the most expensive after the KTR
