Do you really believe that? I work at an R1 academic medical center, and my experience suggests otherwise. The fact of the matter is that MANY board-certified pediatricians endorse this stuff.

Find a way to let patients know, however slyly- I feel like a ninja mind scanner trying to find any medical help for my kids I can trust....or for myself for that matter. Trust is gone for many. Time for Doctors to stand up to these lobbying groups. Do you really need them? Can we change the laws so they allow autonomy of practice beliefs?

I'm a Plastics/Reconstructive and Urology Surgical Coder (for 20 years) who refuses to code any of these surgeries on children! I'm even torn on these surgeries on adults! I'm highly disturbed and disappointed by the American Medical Association, the Children's Hospital Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics! They sold the children out for money! What happened to the oath they took "FIRST DO NO HARM", yet they did this to children anyway.....makes me angry and sad and sick and then angry again!

Religion playing any role in your decisions/approach? There are a whole host of medical professionals on the other side who can provide evidence of the actual benefits. You can stay in your religious bubble and avoid the evidence and/or cite old studies or anecdotes instead of looking at the evidence as a whole. You're doing plastic surgery so I'm guessing you're not hurting as far as money goes.

American College Pediatrics founded in 2002 for Conservative minded pediatricians is against gender affirming care. American Academy of Pediatrics founded in 1930 and is the largest organization of pediatricians is for gender confirming care.
