Did you know when the anime adaptation of Shingeki was announced, some people here in Japan were not sure if Yuki Kaji (Eren's voice actors) will be able to perform well since he's not that well-known yet at that time, he's already known but not as popular as Kamiya (Levi's voice actor). But when season 1 was fully released, they loved it and felt sorry for doubting Yuki. Shingeki is Yuki's big break/breakthrough role and he's now regarded as one of the best voice actors. ☺️🤗 Sorry for my english.

Yeah i remember feeling surprised that episode because it's really interesting that Bertholdt proved eloquent and very talkative when he wants to be--- it's just staggering how he must've been a normally talking guy until being silent became his coping mechanism in the cadets while he quietly observed his comrade Reiner talking weirdly at times like he's forming a split personality. Bertoto must have been so confused, scared, and felt like he might mess up if he so much spoke a word. He coped in a different way than Reiner.

I think Hannes has always thought this since the death of Eren's mother. "If I had fought the titan then, would I have saved all three?" "Maybe I just ran away with the excuse that all three of them could die?" But Hannes's death confirms that he was right to run away with Eren and Mikasa without fighting. The look on his face as he dies, looking at Eren and Mikasa. It seemed to me that he was relieved to know that it was the right choice he made. RIP Hannes

Eren's emotional breakdown in episode 12/ was probably some of Yuki Kaji's best voice acting he's ever done. You can hear his desperation, anger, and frustration in his voice. Fun fact: During the breakdown scene, the director did not give Yuki any instructions. He was told that he could go free and act whatever he felt was right for Eren in that scene, and they'd match the animation to it. Source: Yuki said it himself at Anime Expo 2018.

@@tgdtbfrgtn5073 he risked his life to get eren who was the only person who had the key to the basement and his wish to stay dead was because he just didn't want to suffer anymore, as a person who knew eren more than anyone he chose armin as his successor and he wanted to be right about Titans not being the enemy whether he lived to see it or not. If he was chosen to survive instead of armin he would've went to Marley with eren against everyones wishes

@@reeceypufffs it doesn't change the fact that he was going to die and he knew it and so Eren would bring him nothing in his death but he still sacrificed himself and literally told everyone not to worry about him because he is replaceable but not Eren, what you say does not change the point that I want to put. he wanted to know if his father's theory was right and he was about to confirm it but he gave up on his dream for the good of humanity and he never knew if his theory was true so it doesn't change anything. and we can't really know what he would have done, I think he would have found another way, maybe even negotiate since it's his specialty and he's a politician, but he would surely have found a way, it's erwin after all.

Now that you are past season 2 I recommend you watching the OVA's. You don't have to worry about the spoilers since they all take place before season 3, and it would be awkward to go back in time before season 3 after you finish the whole series. 6 out of 8 OVA's are really important for the story

Hey Nick, I sincerely thank you for watching Attack on Titan with subs and its original language. Voice acting is spectacular! Watching the dubbed version is easier but the original voice acting is incomparable with anything! Erwin's order 6:03 gets me hyped always! Some fun trivia, during that scene where Eren was trying to turn into a titan, his voice actor was actually biting his own hand. Also, he lost his voice for a few days after recording the scene with Eren screaming. Yuki Kaji is an amazing voice actor and if you want to watch something else with him in it, you should watch My Hero Academia. He plays a character named Shoto Todoroki in it.

2x6 & 2x12 are PEAK Attack on Titan. This show will loom a long time in the public consciousness and stick around further as a classic because there are multiple peaks from start to finish and its such a psychologically compelling show. But as far as seasons, 2 is "my favorite ride" and half the reason is this exact episode.
