The parallels between Mikasa, Louise, & Kaya are such good writing in my opinion. After being saved by Mikasa Louise admired the strength and bravery she showed and took to heart that you have to fight to protect what you hold dear. Contrast this to Kaya who was saved by Sasha and consequently admired her compassion to help a stranger in need. This mirrors the different views both the audience and the characters in the show have regarding using the Rumbling versus attempting diplomacy or any other more hopeful solution. The struggle between what way of thinking is right runs through so many scenes in this season. Mikasa herself isn’t blind to how Louise’s admiration of her is akin to the way she has always idolized Eren and her cold treatment of her is because of how uncomfortable that feeling is, it’s no coincidence that she flashes back to her meeting with Eren right after speaking with her. Whenever Mikasa has previously looked back on that scene it’s been with warmth and love because she’s associated it with the beauty of the moment Eren wrapped his scarf around her. But this time the flashback is eerie and focuses more on the viciousness of the moment and how scared she was watching it. Perfectly exemplifying Mikasa's whole character theme from season one that the world is both cruel and beautiful, Mikasa has always seen the beauty in Eren but now she's being forced to recognize the brutality in him as well. On another note, you guys brought up the Floch’s shift from resenting Eren over Erwin’s death last season to being one of his most avid supports now, but it adds up when you analyze Floch’s reason for wanting to bring Erwin back. Floch believed that Erwin was a demon capable of making the cold decision’s and sacrifices necessary to bring them victory against hopeless odds, and now he sees the same thing in Eren who put even the people he cares about most in serious danger to enact whatever plan he has to fight back against Marley.
@LycanFerret2 жыл бұрын
The part with Mikasa and Louise had its meaning clearer in the manga. That Mikasa was being forced to see herself in third person, through outside eyes. Understanding what other's thought of her previously. It's quite a profound scene. And integral to Mikasa's character growth, alongside Levi injuring himself against Annie in S1.
@daniaaal2 жыл бұрын
To add on from Floch’s perception of Erwin, Floch actually hated Erwin because he led the recruits to hell (season 3 part 2). But he wanted Erwin to be alive because he believed humanity within the walls needed a devil, regardless of how much he feels about the devil on a personal level. In a way, Floch is in someway, both villanous in his scheme, but also a manifestation of one of Erwin’s qualities as a commander: ruthlessness in getting the job done. Even if it means siding with Eren whom he disagreed with in the previous season. He’s another well-written character in AOT in my opinion, even if I disagree with him and don’t like him

Comparing Gabi and Falco isn't really fair to either of them. For one, people are just different (children included). Falco is just more mature than Gabi. Second, since his uncle (the Grice from Grisha's That Day flashback) was apprehended as a Restorationist he and Colt had to step up and become Warriors to save their family from being sent to Paradis so he has a unique perspective that Gabi doesn't have. Falco was also present during the conversation between Reiner and Eren, so he also understands THEIR perspectives as well. Gabi on the other hand is emotionally charged, passionate, traumatized, and hotheaded. She HAS to buy into the indoctrination to justify everything she's done up until now for Marley.

Gabi has spent her whole life training and fighting for what she believes is right. All of her thoughts and actions are justified in her mind because she is a "good eldian." Asking her to accept that not all the people on the island are evil is essentially asking her to reconsider her entire identity. Things for Gabi are black and white. Good and evil. The moment something challenges her world view she needs to revert to broad generalizations about the people of paradis. This is the only way she can justify her ideology because if she begins to look at the people of the island as individuals, then everything is no longer black and white. It's different shades of grey. Gabi has killed people for the sake of what she believes.. She NEEDS to be able to justify herself.

To add to your considerations, especially regarding her different approach with respect to Falco, I’d like to point out not just Falco witnessing Eren-Reiner chat, but also the difference in backgrounds, because this is something I think you half-missed during the Marley episodes (because too many info): you caught immediately that Falco is related to Restorationist, so even if they publicly repented and offered the kids as Warriors, the Grice family probably does not buy into the propaganda; the difference with Reiner and Gabi’s family, the way they consider being a Warrior “an honor” and Karina Braun’s rather concerning way of parenting and delusions… that’s another world completely. Louise reminds Mikasa of her own "blind" loyalty towards Eren. Looking at Louise made Mikasa realise that what she's been doing for Eren isn't far off for what Louise is doing for Mikasa and Eren, but for the wrong reasons. It's funny how people say "Why is it so hard for Gabi to understand the truth!?"..... does the truth actually matters? Does it REALLY make any difference after what she saw in Marley? She saw Island "Devils" killing her people and friends, it is as simple as that. People put too much importance on truths and lies, when in reality people accepts only the truths that benefits them and suits their situations. To be honest, if Isayama made Gabi stop being Gabi in this episode I would have been disappointed. It would have been bad writing. Also, loved how you noticed how Gabi's speeches felt scripted, because it is like she is quoting from a book. BUT everything she said was true and the Eldian Empire were Tyrants who raped and made the rest of the world second citizens (just like what is being done to the Eldians in Marley and the rest of the World) for 2000 years until a 100 years ago. But guess what? people probably won't accept this truth because, just like I said before, they only accept the truths that suits their situations and benefit them.

Your words are really wonderful👏👏👑. Since Isayama is very realistic in the character of Gabi, and the story is so realistic that the characters develop, it is not just a superficial development for the sake of events, like the rest of the silly anime stories, so the audience believes that Isayama will change Gabi by only one situation is to feed her food, and this is a matter Quite ridiculous, since she has been brought up from her childhood to despise the people of the island, so it makes sense to see her development and many situations until the character changes make more sense than farce. So, congratulations to Isayama on such an amazing character🤝🏆🏆🏆🏆

A 2000 years long crime was committed and the guilty part (The Eldian Royal Family) wasn't punished. What did Fritz expect the world to do? I don’t know if you noticed but the reason the horse bit Gabi is because she looks a lot like Sasha in terms of face and hair color, so the horse mistaken her for Sasha and tried to bite her, because Sasha used to take care of those horses.

Day 12 of asking Carlie and Ange to watch Erased😁: Next anime I would recommend for you guys is Erased, it's Sci-Fi Drama, and a touch of mystery. It's so intense at times, but also so lighthearted I bet you guys will love it

It's not as talked about but back in season 2 episode 2 sasha's father is talking about leaving the forest to Sasha and tells her the government is paying people for raising horses, so go figure her family gets into the business of running a stable. And caring for horses and they started an orphanage on the side probably because of Kaya and the events of season 2.

I think it would've been cooler if Gabi was the one in the basement, so she was somewhat deradicalized, and Falco was radicalized due to Udo and Zophia. It'd show more consequences of Erens actions more; an incredibly sweet, kind boy being corrupted into an instrument of war and hate.
@oyamampendu94672 жыл бұрын
Yeah but her reaction to him would've been way more volatile.

@farial95992 жыл бұрын
I don't think it'd work tho 😂 to deradicalized Gabi, ones would need a long week of debate with so many shouting and cursing due to her hotheaded personality (there's no way she'd just believe whatever eren said at that moment). The basement scene only worked cause Falco sat down and obediently listened to them and frozen in shocked. If Gabi was the one there, I'm pretty sure she'd go berserk the moment Willy shouting "Eren Yeager" 😂

I have noticed that many who saw Mikasa's dialogue with Lousie try to justify Mikasa's attitude, saying that she felt uncomfortable with Louise's comment. but this is not a good explanation, (it would be a bad justification) since mikasa did not have to act like this with Louise, who only wanted to be like her, no, it would have been difficult for mikasa to be more understanding and tell her something "better" that simply telling him to "shut up", I think eren also has something to do with it. I think what Isayama wanted to show is: how Mikasa is obsessed with Eren and wouldn't "stand" if someone told her that she should let Eren "be free" (which at that point would mean that Eren would walk away from her to take carry out their plans). Mikasa cannot tolerate that Eren distances himself from her, as he considers it "his only reason for living from her" from her. we know that emotional dependency is not healthy. and what the author wants us to understand is that the best thing mikasa can do is "free" herself from Eren and not depend on anyone to live happily.

My interpretation is Gabi's finding really difficult to absorb the idea that the Paradis Eldians are good because it completely shatters not only what she's been taught but also what she went through as an Eldian in Marley. "What discrimination and hurt did I have to go through for then?" or something among those lines. I think Falco understood and processed it better not only bc he's calmer and more empathetic than Gabi, but also bc he watched the interaction between Reiner and Eren prior to Eren and Paradis attacking, at that point i think he probably started to understand smth fundamental about Eldians and their "sins"

Like everyone, i was sad to see Sasha to die only on her second episode of season 4. But what i like about this season, they are still showing references about her, like even after her death, she still have a role. Plus, we got some flashbacks where they are showing her. So we feel like that she did not died. 😊 My favorite part of the video: Ange: Historia is pregnant with the farmer. I like to think that the farmer is a nice dude... Carlie: He's not! Another great AOT reactions video! Continue your great work while watching that season 4!! 🤗

To underestand Gabi, just think than if she acept that the "devils in the island" are just normal people, its means than she have to acept that all she thinks, all she believes, all she is, is false. And even in the real world, for the majority of the people, accept that the other (the person who believes or likes different things or was born in a different place) is not bad and you are not the good Another thing to point out, that in the manga it was but in the anime it wasn't, when Gabi asks Falco if he's not mad at Zeke for betraying them, he thinks something like: "I still haven't told him that I helped the enemy and that it's my fault that Udo and Zofia died"
