The Attack Titan's ability is to receive the memories of its future heirs. This was hinted at when Kruger mentioned Mikasa and Armin towards the end of S3. In fact, Eren saw his future when he touched Historia's hand. Note that they can only see these memories, but cannot interact with them. So how could Eren meddle in the past? Well, he had 3 perfect conditions: 1. he Had Attack Titan ability 2. Founder Titan ability with access to coordinate 3. he was also in contact with someone with royal blood, too known as Zeke. After Zeke touched Eren's head, they were able to see Grisha's past memories with Eren using the power of coordinates. They could freely see the past. Now if Eren had another Titan other than the Attack Titan, he could just watch. But since the Attack Titan can see forward in time, Grisha can use this to see Eren's memories of the same event he is currently experiencing in real time. So, this means that every time Grisha can see or hear Eren, he is actually receiving a brief future memory from Eren's point of view where he can see with his eyes and hear his words. That means he is seeing himself from a third perspective. Then if he responds, his response is simply part of the memory that Eren/Zeke are seeing, allowing for two-way communication through time. Also note that whenever Grisha sees Zeke, Eren is always behind his father. So whenever Grisha sees Zeke, he is actually due to the memories of Eren's point of view.

The second was with Hodor, he literally changed Hodor’s life before he was born. Towards the final episodes of GoT I was expecting a massive reveal, probably within the last minutes of the show, us seeing Brandon Stark crowned, then through a flashback style revelation being shown how he went back throughout time, again and again trying to put the pieces in place, first telling the mad king “burn them all” then going further back to make his great, great, great grandfather “Brann the Builder” build the wall, then one last time back to the first men, trying to persuade the children of the forest Not to create the white walkers, in turn being captured by them and turned into the Knight King, trapped in the past a few thousand years before he was born. Present day Brann was literally fighting against his past selfs mistakes traveling through time… I don’t know… something along those lines… P.s Brann would have also been responsible for the Crows that led to him being pushed out the tower window in the first place.. P.s.s … Burn Them All… Build The Wall…. Hold The Door…

In fact, what some people don't realize is that the Attack Titan in itself is nothing special. But what allowed the manipulation of history to become as we know it was that at some point in the future something happened: - A carrier of Attack Titan + Founding along with a person of real blood entered the Paths together. Zeke making it possible to enter the memories made Eren able to influence the past and all the Attack Titan holders, who could only see the future because Eren was in the Paths showing them. Therefore, the only really special Attack Titan is the last one. The one from the future. It is a time loop and a paradox. The past only happened because someone in the future wanted it to. And that was Eren, the will of the Attack Titan who in all ages has always fought for freedom.
@TheEmperor3932 жыл бұрын
Good explanation to the final piece I need to put into this puzzle. Something is lacking for me in your explanation tho: If it's only Eren interacting with the memories because Zeke took him there, why could Kruger "saw" the "save Mikasa and Armin" line said by Grisha when passing his powers to Eren? Your view is the most complete I've read until now, but I still am not 100% sure of why Eren was able to affect previous memories except for the ability of the attack titan to see memories of future holders (that's the reason Grisha can "see" Zeke). So I tend to think there is -in the end - some special ability of the attack titan to see future memories, but dunno what memories and when. According to Grisha is Eren who is choosing what to show him but still doesnt make complete sense to me. Thanks for sharing!
@izrael8202 жыл бұрын
It's only because there's one user sending memories. Eren saw his dad's memories of him seeing 19yro Eren telling him to kill kids and that the attack titan can see the future. Through zeke making it possible for Eren to directly see his dad's memories Eren can tell his father what to do in real time while Grisha see "present" Erens memories of that instant. The attack titan is special since no other titan could influence the previous holder through their currem memories.

@@TheEmperor393I'm glad you like my comment. I'll try to explain your last doubt but it might a little confusing: Eren influenced Kruger in the same way he influenced Grisha, and this can be seen in internal monologues that Eren will have while reflecting on memories of everything that happened in the past. He will say "Even if everything was set in stone from the beginning, I wished for this.... Everything, everything that has happened." When Kruger gave the Attack Titan to Grisha and talked about Mikasa and Armin, Eren influenced him to say that. It's a paradox too. - Kruger said it because Eren made him say it. - But Eren made him say it by showing the memories. - Eren only had the memories because Grisha said it to Eren. - and Grisha only said it because Krueger said it (influenced by Eren). Eren prepared his own path, just as he influenced Kruger to tell Grisha to form a new family on the Walls. This way, he could be born and be who he is. With this in mind the phrases "I was born into this world" and "I am who I am since I was born" take on a much fuller meaning.

@@yeager1234 You misunderstand the vow renouncing war. The vow avoids the royal blooded founding titan user to use the Founder's power to retaliate against the world. So in order to avoid any confusion regarding the time travel mechanics, I will break down what type of Time travel we're dealing with here. AOT operates by a particular type of time travel where it's almost impossible to change the past even if you somehow go back in time. And any change that you tried to cause was always meant to happen in the overall timeline. Here time is a fixed circle, not a stream. We may see Eren meddle in the past but that was always meant to happen. This calls into the question of the existence of free will in the world of Attack of Titan. The Attack Titan's ability is to receive the memories of its future inheritors. This was hinted when Kruger mentioned Mikasa and Armin towards the end of S3. Keep in mind, they can only view these memories but can't interact with them. So how was Eren able to meddle in the past? Well, he had 3 perfect conditions: 1) He had the ability of the Attack Titan 2) The ability of the Founding Titan 3) He was also in contact with someone with royal blood AKA Zeke. After Zeke tapped Eren's head, they were able to view Grisha's past memories with Eren using the power of the coordinate. They were freely able to view the past as if it were through a one way mirror. Now if Eren had any other Titan other than the Attack Titan, he would only be able to look. But since Attack Titan can see forward in time, Grisha can use this to see Eren's recollection of the same event that he's currently experiencing in real time. So this mean that whenever Grisha can see or hear Eren, he's actually recieving a brief future memory from Eren's POV where he can see out of his eyes and hear his words. That means he is seeing himself from a 3rd perspective. Then if he responds, his response is simply part of the memory that Eren/Zeke are viewing, allowing for a two way communication through time. Also Note that everytime, Grisha sees Zeke, Eren is always standing behind his dad. So whenever Grisha sees Zeke, it is from actually due to the memories from Eren's POV

Last episode was a 10/10. This deserves more than 10/10. As a manga reader,they did this more than justice. Just some tips for anyone still 1confused. I don’t think these are spoilers,but I give a warning anyway…. Grisha, Kruger and every attack Titan holder before that have been working according to the memories sent by the future chad Eren. Eren sent his memories back in time to create the perfect environment for him to steal the founding titans power in the future and destroy the world. Remember,out of all the 9 titans,the attack Titan had always been in search of freedom,free from the founding titans control. Why do you think that is? Eren had been influencing them all. About Grish seeing Zeke at only certain times….. Grisha actually doesn’t see Eren or Zeke in HIS real time. No,Grisha sees them through the memories Eren sent him. In this case,the memory of Zeke and Eren traveling through Grishas memories, is the exact memory Eren had sent him. Notice that every time Grisha sees Zeke,Eren is standing right behind Grisha? In other words,Grish I seeing it through Erens perspective. And also when Eren told Grisha to slaughter the kids…he didn’t hear it in real-time. He has been given the memory where Chad Eren whispers that to Grisha. Aka,Grishas hearing a memory of Eren coaxing him to kill the kids. That in turn affect him in HIS real time. AND when Grisha shows the key to chad Eren ,he really doesn’t see him,but he has a general idea of where Eren is standing in the room,because of the memories he’d been given from the future(which are from Erens perspective). That’s why he doesn’t speak about how much Eren had grown,because he literally can’t see him. Only see himself through future Erens perspective,aka memories. Just GENIUS writing

Keep this in mind. When Grisha kills the Reiss family, there's no "first time", it's just that we did not see the full scene before, but as this is something like a "time loop", there's little to nothing you can really change. Grisha was always going to do it, though he hesitated and tried to "change" the future that was already decided for him, but Eren gave him that little push to do what he had to do, in order for the "loop" to continue as it always has. Think about it like this, the attack titan is unlike any other being, let alone any other of the 9 titans. We as people are influenced by our past/past experiences because that’s all we know, similar to the other 8 titans. The other 8 “remember” and are influenced by their past users. BUT, The attack titan sees both its past AND future users’ memories(though only select future memories), and is influenced in a timeline backwards to what we know as normal causality for us. Because what is more influential on your actions, a memory? Or a call to fulfill your duty in a predetermined role?? One destined by your son, in years to come… Another example of the Attack titan difference: Ymir memories go to Galliard then to Falco(forward) BUT Eren Yeager memories (sometimes) go to Grisha Yeager then (sometimes) to Eren Kruger(backward) as well as forwards It’s just tough for us watching the show to grasp the concept that season 1 Grisha was influenced by an Eren that we, at the time, didn’t know yet. All in order to, later on, allow Eren to get to the point where he influences Grisha in the past. Yes its a loop, but its def a closed/fixed loop

I'm still not convinced that it is a closed causal loop, it all depends on what effect Erens ability to influence the past has on the founder Ymir, what the origin of the vow of the King really is among other things. Introducing disorder to an otherwise static loop making it adhere to the second law of thermodynamics breaks the paradox. In his struggle to break free of the loop he will probably have to give up his freedom to let others determine the outcome.
@shanestafford66052 жыл бұрын
@@Astral0muffiN I think youre thinking to linearly. Eren doesnt influence the past, he HAS influenced the past. He always has, thats why the past has led him to this moment, where he can continue his influence.I think the confusing thing is that the attack titan is bound by its future, not its past. It acts according to the future/the "end". AKA Eren. therefore has ALREADY given up his freedom, to his future and final self.
@Astral0muffiN2 жыл бұрын
@@shanestafford6605 Self-causing events have infinite entry points that do not result in paradoxes and closed loops are no exeption. So I'm just wondererng which Isayama is going for and prefer to wait and see if we get further clarification on what type of loop this is and how he handles it in the narrative. I found the second person perspective in Grishas reunion with Zeke quite interesting in regards to non-paradoxical loops that allows for entropy. Letting them influence each other through Erens memory of the event, implying the willful addition of novelty and disorder to the system. If the loop extends as far back as Ymir that would allow for plenty more fuckery so you might be right, I just need more info to be convinced.

Grisha literally despises Marley with an iron passion and for him to tell Zeke to stop Eren's plan for Marley is beyond haunting. *Opening plays in the distance

the next episode will clarify a lot, for its name is (from you 2000 years ago). And if u remember the name of the episode where eren woke up crying, while dreaming under the tree is called (to you in 2000 years). so yeah that anime has a time travel storyline implemented... funny fact here is that the next episode is gonna be the 80th and number 8 itself looks pretty similar to an infinity symbol, while the 0 has the shape of a circle. so its kinda like a loop

His future memories started to flow since Eren kissed Historia's hand. He saw every sceneries of the future of him thru Grisha's memory. Eren knew he can't change the future when Sasha was dead.

It has been a time travel all along literally the first scene in attack on titan was a dream that Eren had about the colossal titan attacking in the future which ends up happening.

Eren the villain confirmed. I was always confused when I watched S3 reactions to why Grisha would pass his titan powers to Eren since he seemed like a good parent in Paradis.
@deonx2622 жыл бұрын
*Anyone confused with how the Eren manipulated Grisha can check it out :-* The Attack Titan has the ability to look into the future. This means that Grisha saw Eren viewing his memories in the future with Zeke. By that logic, Grisha saw himself through Eren’s eyes. This means that when Grisha actually went to retake the Founding Titan, he already saw these certain scenes through Eren.

You can see "Future Eren" watching Eren, Mikasa, and Armin from afar in his hoodie in S1 when they're at the shelter. Eren throws his bread and yells at Armin and stuff. Future Eren is just watching from afar.

The 12:55 means.. The show want to tell you about... THAT MOMENT IS WHAT EREN SAW WHEN HE TOUCH HISTORIA. (young) Eren even got the same expression as Grisha in that moment. Shocked and forced. And from that point, his personality completely changed. From a cheerful boy that talk about the outside world with Armin before they got the medal, but after that historia touch moment thing, eren became like.. depressed. And u can even see more about that when they reached the sea. And also.... This is the FIRST EMOTIONAL MOMENT OF MAPPA. I almost cried in that Grisha moment when he regretted doing that and like... "are you happy now, Eren!?"
@kapitanjisun2 жыл бұрын
Eren din't exactly saw the future. The Attack Titan's ability is to send memories from a previous inheritor from a future one. But the loop hole is that you can't send memories to your past self, which Eren expoilted. He saw his future self when he unlocked Grisha's memories of a Future Eren. When Grisha is "seeing" Grisha, it's eren's memories watching him so it was Grisha watching himself in 3rd person pov (eren's pov). It's kinda crazy to think

Even Frieda does want to help Grisha, she felt his pain, but because she's bound by the "Vow Renouncing War", and she owns the Founding Titan, if u look closely suddenly her eyes turned into those bright one that signifies the Founding Titan eye, that very moment her attitude changed, with her face straight up she said the dooms day has come for Eldians, etc, it's because of the First King ideology, Vow Renouncing War, I hope I tells this clear.
