Clearly Isayama didn't paint a very good message then, especially when factoring in the ending of which needed to be altered in the anime version. Floch actions maybe harder to jusify with how he handled the restorationists, but Isayama wrote Paradise island into a wall with how he did his world building with their possible relations to the outside world. The plans laid out became: 1. Do the rumbling to guarantee safety at heavy moral and lively cost. 2. Do the 50 year plan which sacrifices Historia, brings back the children eating parents thing that they helped to stop, do a partial rumbling still killing hundreds of thousands of soldiers, while only providing them with the a chance for peace through nuclear deterrence. 3.Do Zekes plan, which takes away a races future(the eldians) and still involves a partial rumbling.

Floch is a great character with a crazy narrative development, He is doing everything he can to save the island and its people from the extermination of the rest of the world not because he is an Eren fanboy but because he cares about the place where he was born and raised
@babarjaputak23142 күн бұрын
no he's doing it because he wants Eldia to rule the world. If he only wanted to save his people he wouldn't be calling themselves the Eldian Empire, he wouldn't be enjoying the constant infighting and killing of his own people, and he most especially wouldn't be reveling in the power he has gained over his fellow people and the volunteers.
@LoneWolf-xq4bsКүн бұрын
@ You have to do a bit of historical contextualization, having an expansionist and capitalist vision is not a crime, in fact for the era in which the world of AOT is set there is nothing wrong with all our ancestors have been since the development of the early civilizations therefore cannot be an accusation. The volunteers are not Eldians and can become a problem for the island so it is obvious that I have 2 options: join or die, what would you prefer? there is no wrong answer
@babarjaputak2314Күн бұрын
@ lmao the cope is real. He's not doing this for any capitalist development or altruistic desire. He gets a kick out of lording his power over others. He wants to rule over other races and declare his Empire the greatest. You really wanna bring up the time period this show is set in? Just think about that for another second and say there's nothing wrong with Floch's line of thinking LOL. The volunteers are no threat, and forcing subjugation or death is dictatorial behavior. Besides, you never addressed anything I said. Floch is doing it because revels in the power and wants Eldia to rule the world. The idea of saving his people is just a bonus. Given that you decided not to provide a counterargument to that statement, I take it you agree, rendering your first comment incorrect (yet you have failed to acknowledge that)

Because it’s the tone behind things. Like Annie’s face , Reiner’s face , and even Berthold faces were never filled with glee or any malicious nature of that matter. Floch is deranged and power hungry ( for reasons ) but still is oppressing innocent people who don’t agree with him.

What made me like Reiner more is how he showed remorse for his actions, where floch doesn’t whatsoever. I also find Reiner to be an extremely well written and complex character compared to Floch but that’s just my opinion! I’m sure many people may feel differently. - Lia
@babarjaputak23142 күн бұрын
it's even funnier when people watch a show and are unable to pick up any nuance behind the characters actions and motivations yet try to act smart and smug about it. Not once did Annie or Reiner every state they wanted to establish an empire and enslave the world. Not once have they ever lorded their power over others and reveled in their position. If anything, they hated everything they did. And this may come as a surprise to you since it's obvious you missed it despite the show outright saying it multiple times again and again throughout several seasons, but the Warriors were children. They grew up being fed propaganda, trained for years, and attacked the wall when they were 10 because they were ordered to; and when they messed up, they decided to continue because they knew that if they went home, they and their entire family would be executed. Floch is an adult, fully conscious of what he is doing, and is doing all of it of his own free will. And he enjoys every minute of it. Your comment is the equivalent of someone saying "it's funny to me when people criticize the government but don't migrate to a different country"
@LoneWolf-xq4bs2 күн бұрын
@@lia_fiore Reiner is certainly a nice character, apologizing will not bring back to life the people he killed so the words take away the wind, Annie on the other hand has done even more horrible things but many pretend nothing happened, now instead try to think clearly about the development Floch narrative putting aside the dislike you have for him. He went from being a scared soldier who believed he couldn't make a difference to making a difference since he managed to transport Erwin to Levi alive. He lost all his friends because of Zeke and instead sees the others saving Armin instead of Erwin by putting friendship first instead of the common good. Now he is the leader of a movement that cares about the people of the island also because if they don't act immediately they will be bombed by the rest of the world so it is normal to become cynical because in war the opposing soldier does not spare you courtesy in case of hesitation
@kingfloch25122 күн бұрын
Unfortunately many people are hypocrites, they really think that Floch is the bad guy and the others are saints but this is absolutely not the case, for goodness sake it is human behavior Floch immediately appears to us as a character opposed to the protagonists and consequently unconsciously leads us to be grumpy and not very inclined towards him but if you open your mind and are objective without getting caught up in prejudices he is an incredible character with an incredible development and a valid reason to fight for the country that raised him, educated him

@babarjaputak2314 Armin fights to do what he thinks is right, not to save his people without wanting to enslave the rest of the world. If he fought to save his people his fight would be over, and if he fought to not enslave the rest of the world then he wouldn't go against Eren since Eren doesn't wanna enslave the rest of the world, he wants to (spoilers). Floch only wants Eldia to succeed and the only way they have a fighting chance is by creating their own military force that can rival the rest of the world, or else they're doomed to perish in genocide by the rest of the world.
