Agreed! Without question, some of the best teaching I've seen online, and the online education "market" (free or paid) is SATURATED, so that's really saying something.

Blessed day brother !!! Can you please make a video about e-drums? Our situation is that we send one mono to the mixer therefore individual drums cannot be EQ'd. Thanks.

HI do you have tips for electronic drums? The difference between edrum sounds in a headset and on a Pa is huge. IN headset it's fantastic but on PA is not so good. Is their any way to arrive as close as possible to the headset sounds?

Hi! I use edrums in live performance (Pearl Mimic Pro with real drum samples and Roland TD50X with synthetic sounds...both without internal eq, comp and fx...) so I don't have mic bleed problem and the sounds are good and direct into the PA mixer...one channel for each drum! How do you suggest to use compressors? I have tryed, on snare for example, fast attack (1 ms) and slow attack (12 ms) but I can't ear a real big difference!? many thanks
@AttawayAudio3 жыл бұрын
to try and hear the difference, squash it a LOT and sweep the attack time back and forth... you'll hear it feel "thicker" with slower attack times, and "thinner" with faster attack times, like they're hitting it with a thinner drum stick. Then you can adjust it to a reasonable amount and keep it under control, and get the tone you want

Top notch James! Do you think I could borrow that fancy jacket? You mention mixing Rock a lot in your videos. Have you ever considered doing a mixing “Rock” Video? Maybe some tips on eq and mixing rock specific music?
@AttawayAudio3 жыл бұрын
If you borrowed that jacket, it would double the number of times its been worn in the last 15 years 🤣 I use "rock" loosely... like "not jazz or funk"... I'm really not that hard of a rocker...

If you are so dissatisfied with the way live drums sound, why don't you just get a drum machine? Or at least, an electronic set that comes with the sound you like?
@diekrassegabelhd82053 жыл бұрын
First of all, fixing these problems can be fun and will get you proud if you get a nice sound. Secondly edrums dont sound as real as an Acoustic kit😉
@dwstarke3 жыл бұрын
@@diekrassegabelhd8205 "Secondly edrums dont sound as real as an Acoustic kit" Neither does what comes out of your mixer after you have "fixed" an acoustic kit. There are literally hundreds of drum sample sets, many which are mixed (compressed and equalized) for you by professionals. As for the fun of looking for problems to fix and the pride of fixing them, I don't know anyone who wants inferior input just so they can spend their mixing time on it. Do you also go looking for a third grade band so you can "fix it" to sound like the Cleveland orchestra? Maybe the guitarist should play with his feet. Better input = better output.with much less effort
@diekrassegabelhd82053 жыл бұрын
@@dwstarke No thats not real my friend. An acoustic kit sounds different depending on how you hit it. No just a diffrent volume. Exept for high qualitiy edrum sets, an edrum typically doesent do this. And even the best ones out there which cost about 10k just play a diffrent sample depending on how you hit it. Acoustic drums can produce hundrets of sounds. And if the acoustic set is tuned well and you have solid mics which are placed in a good way, you dont have to fix much. You can easily make them "feel and sound" good in your room. So you dont spent too much time on getting them to sound right.
