Perhaps if your icing were thinner the narrow opening would work better. If you continue to twist as you lift off rather than pulling straight up, the "tails" of the icing will lay in the direction you twist, which to me is a better look.

Heather Clements No, the hole remains even with softer frosting. Someone did this with Swiss Meringue buttercream.

Its because her buttercream recipe uses mostly shortening which makes it pipe out with frayed edges

I would try a Swiss meringue buttercream. I'm assuming this was an American buttercream, and if it had been whipped more and a bit thinner I think the tips would have worked a lot better.

This is her American butter frosting .! Lol Then she.didn't use Real Butter or a.very good.quilty of butter you know u get what u pay for.! Always the first rule of thumb when cooking or baking is the very best quility of ingredients for baking,.my mother would show me how to make everything l loved that she use to make for us kids growing up,. and baking she was Excellent baker and our home made.Butter Cream Frosting Never looked likes that ever.!! So this is Not an American Butter Cream Frosting. Not even a little bit..lol 😄

All_About _Dem_Pigs that is not smooth!! Lol that is a very dry frosting ... being a Baker has nothing to do with it. The cake shop by my house is owned by a baker and she had the worst buttercream ever...very dry. People finally complained enough and she had to fix the recipe...bakers learn everyday.

Its american butter cream that contained too much of icing sugar that cannot disolve themself all in the butter so the cream is really sweet, firm and kinetic sand like :))

Kinetic sand is actually sand...it breaks out . Icing is cream so this won't work with kinetic sand 😐🙄
