I went to this hair salon and had my hair dyed by Yoshi-san because of all your previous recommendations and it was so great. I had a great time and the color was just beautiful. They definitely know how to treat non Asian hair and everyone is so nice there. And when I wanted some specific color, Yoshi-san explained to me that it can damage the hair too much, so instead he thought of a different color which came out even better. It’s a very good salon. I like vlogmas because I live away from family and no longer decorate. It's nice seeing Christmas in Japan vids because there is so many festivals and lights, and if there's a Hokkaido trip there's always a lot of snow and mist and stuff. It's so uplifting to watch the way Japanese people do festivals and holidays

Gorgeous! I love how they've achieved a completely natural look that complements your eyebrows and skin colour. So glad it didn't turn into that on-trend (well it's probably out now that everyone has copied it) and unnatural ashen look out of Korea. I'm also glad that you don't have to travel back to Canada to maintain your hair. I also found Gold Salon in Omotesando (also in Azabu Juban) very good for foreign hair. When I had to leave Tokyo in early April and faced quarantine and lockdown on my return, I made an appointment with the owner, Harold, the day before my flight. I had kick-ass hair for the next 3 months before restrictions lifted and salons in Victoria could open. I find that here they tend to ignore highlights to the back of the head unless specifically instructed otherwise. When the wind blows the hair around it's too obvious that half the head is dull and gray while the front looks glorious. Who walks around with their hair sleek all the time?

Oh wow they have 2 people coloring your hair at the same time! I've never seen that. In the part of the US I live in we just get one hairstylist who does everything you need for your entire visit. I've also never had to wait 1.5 hours with foils in my hair - maybe half that at most (and my natural color and desired color are the same as yours). That's insane. The color looks great, though. I have the same coloring as you and I always struggle with thinking my natural color makes my skin tone look great, but everyone loves my blonde highlights better. Maybe I need to get my blonde with less golden tones like yours.

Wow, your hair looks amazing! It's so shiny and silky looking. I loved watching the way they did your highlights; it was nice to have a bird's-eye view. When I was your age I was thrilled with my gray hair throughout my head because it looked like I had highlights. I also had a strip of gray hair running down the front of my head that covered half of my bangs. I was looking forward to having more gray hair as I aged but what happened to me is that my hair suddenly started to come in blonde and it also got curly. I've always had dead straight hair but now I'm sporting curls. Happy Holidays Sharla! Yesterday we had snow in the Niagara Region; today the sun melted it all.

My girlfriend has all natural grey (only 52) she's having a blast with it putting all kinds of colors on it. The hairdresser told her people are wrecking their hair to get it to her base color just to do this trendy stuff. So now every other month she is a new wild color. It looks great!

I have naturally dark hair so I’ve never been able to dye it without bleaching, which I don’t like to do. I kind of can’t wait until my whole head goes gray so it’s easier to dye 😂 Use this opportunity to do something unique with your hair 😆

No you just have to do it right. The women in my family dye their hair through their 70s, 80s, and 90s and it looks great - my Mom is 70 with gorgeous natural looking warm medium brown color and I have not once in my life seen gray roots on her. You start by dying your entire head one base color to color the greys (which is a much easier process than foil highlights). You go back to the salon once a month or as necessary for tiny root touch-ups to keep the gray at bay. Then every 3-4 months or however you want, you do the regular foil highlight routine on top of that just to give the hair some extra depth to it's color.

@@Neerepha The 4-6 week root touch up is less color, less work, and if you go to the same stylist they'll charge less for that, maybe $60-$80 per visit. It only costs more when you're dyeing your whole head or doing highlights, which is something you'd be doing less often.

When they started foiling your hair, I could FEEL that. When I used to get highlights, that would give me such a headache 😂 Even though I prefer blonde hair, I’m glad I’m sticking to my natural dark hair now so I don’t have to go through the process again 😖 Whenever I see great highlight jobs like yours, though, it always tempts me to go back.... (I’ll resist!)

Looks amazing! My hair also goes yellowish when I bleach as I'm a darker brown, usually if I get it done at a salon they will use purple tones to combat it.
