A long time ago a white one landed on my hands, also YLOD, also needing a new RSX. As I didn't know at the time how to swap the GPU, I sold it to somebody else. I still regret it to this day

one thing i'd love to try some day is a liquid-cooled original model. that was my only complaint is that that thing would /roar/ when i was playing ffxi on it from how loud the fans were.

iirc, there's a few other things that you have to do for the 40nm rsx to work. I think it has to do with memory straps or something. Then again, I've never seen anyone attempt a 40nm replacement on this model board, so it may not be necessary. Look into that though before giving up on it for sure

fat ps3s with the 65nm rsx are one of the best ps3 version out there because it had better cooling solution than 65nm slims. for almost ylod 65nm fat i ever repaired they are always having issue with nec tokin capacitor.

Hello, I have a question regarding your preheater profile. Could you please tell me why you lower the preheater temperature before taking the RSX off? Like when it goes to 160 you lower the preheater. I am still learning on this stuff so any knowledge would be awesome. Thank you very much!

I would like to know this, do you do Console repairs at all?

Coincidently, I too am interested in doing a Frankenstein on a CECH0L, With a VER-001 board. Did you only do the RSX? I was hoping to see you re-marry a new CPU to this. That is something I'd like to do with mine. Do you know how to do that? Thank you for sharing details as you did. Especially with your rework station profiles. All very helpful.

Would it have been a better idea to just housing swap this PS3 with an B01 unit with an absolutely trashed housing? Still fix the YLOD, but you could have a satin silver with true Backwards Compatibility
