So happy that you picked up a gathering of old men! Ernest Gaines is one of the most prolific writers of our time and if you are into black historical fiction, he is a must author to get into! as a sidenote, a gathering of old men was actually made into a made for TV movie where the late great Lou Gossett Jr played one of the old men. It is a phenomenal picture to watch as well…all of Ernest books are worth a read. I hope you enjoy.

The Deep was such a powerful read. It quite literally requires a reread! I’m so happy you enjoyed it. I was the same way when trying to process and articulate the words lol. It’s one of those books people just have to read for themselves to really understand it’s true depth and value.

Yes I had the same reaction to The Deep. I immediately went to Libby and put all of Rivers Solomon's books on hold. It's amazing how in depth the story is for it to be so short. I'm keeping my eyes open at the thrift stores too!

They really did so much in such a short page count. I definitely want to pick up more from them as well. Someone commented a suggested reading order so I’m going to try and give their suggestion a go.

I have that same Beyoncé shirt! Did you go to the renaissance tour? I went when she was in Vegas, it was sooo sooo good! I’m buying a kindle because of the review you did. I love my hard covers (I probably have like 2500 books in my library 🥴) but I need something portable to read when I’m out. I literally carry a portable library in my purse, no less than 5 books 🤦🏾♀️, and it’s killing my shoulders and back 😂😩. Trying to get through my stack of books, I have like 4 that I need to complete

oh nooo carrying multiple hard covers would definitely weigh on the shoulders. The kindle is going to be a game changer for you. I know you are going to love it!! Even the option of being able to read library books on the kindle makes it worth it to me. I did not go to the renaissance tour so I missed out on all the magic. 😖 So sad about it
