Hi Scott, if my listings aren’t selling after 30 days of running ads, is it worth Re-doing the SEO of the listing using tools like erank and everbee and then run ads on this listing again?Apart from this, how often should I tweak the SEO of my listing?

I am currently at 2.5:1 ROAS ($2.50 for every $1 spent), I have invested in keeping ads up full-time for the last 3 weeks. I previously would stop and start and change spend. Is this a good place to be at this point? I feel like it is but I'd appreciate feedback.

Nobody can tell you that without knowing what your margin is. You need to calculate your break even ROAs. For example: 2.5: 1 ROA. To make a $25 sale, you spend $10..so you really brought it $15. What is your cost and margins on that product..Did you make any money out of that $15...Thare are two parts of this. 1. Calculate your costs and your margins. Let say you have $10 profit on an item. When running ads, you need to determine how much of that $10 you are comfortable spending to make a sale. If you spend $15 to make a sale, not only you didnt make any money, but you lost $5. So Step 1 is to decide on how much you are willing to spend. If it reaches that number and you haven't made a sale, time to turn the ads off on that listing. 2. If you are making sales on an advertised listing, based on your margins, what are your break even ROAs? Its too complicated to explain here on comments but google how to calculate your break even ROAs. For example for me ( Im POD) its 3.5. As long as my ROAs are above 3.5 I leave the ads on, if not, turn it off. Hope this makes sense

Should I mark related tags as irrelevant if it is? Under the Etsy Ads page

My ad sales do pay for the ads. Are my ad sales fabulous? No. But! I have notice an uptick in my organic sales. My ad traffic is pretty good. My clicks are really good. So.. maybe they click and favorite my shop and the. Come back later for the sales. That's what I think is going on in my shop anyway. I think the clicks and traffic is worth it even if Im not making a ton of ad sales.

But how many Views & clicks is considered a decent demand? I sell mostly shirts for gym and workout ppl. I’ve a lot of competition cos of all the general stores.

ads not worth it for shirts, not enough margin. Except if you sell you shirts 40 dollars or print them yourself

So, are we still going in to ads' Detailed Stats ---> Related Tags to up/down-vote the suggested ones and also turn off/on the "Searches that led to this Ad" to tune them? Some say this is experimental and does nothing, yet the verbiage describing each section also implies these features might just be removed without notice 🤔

Ok so for my shop I can say Etsy ads do not work. It is literally a way to give Etsy all of the profits. So let’s take an example: I sell cookie cutters the normal price is 4 dollars for a 3 inch cutter. If I put up an add for this cutter that I know sells because I sell it multiple times in a week with no ads. So I put up an ad for say 4 dollars a day. I see a lot of visits and clicks and then a ton of favorites but that ad only results in a few sales. Not enough profit to warrant the ad. I say profit because what you showed was revenue. From that you have to pay shipping and Etsy fees and the time spent to make the item and pack the item. What is left is the profit. Ok so back to the cutter. At that price I charge shipping which is close to 5 dollars so I still have my full 4 dollars. My packaging comes to about 60 cents and materials cover the other 40 cents and the fees is close to 50 cents leaving me with a profit of 2.50. Ok so let’s put that into ads to get more sales but the problem is all those people clicking around playing their little favorite game wasting that ad spend which I see a lot of. I would have to sell one cutter per day just to pay Etsy. The issue is unlike other niches I need a lot of cutters as people don’t just buy the same cutter over and over so Etsy just takes a lot of 20 cents and maybe that cutter will sell a few per year. Turning on ads eats all of the profits due to these silly favorites. I see a ton of favorites and very little purchases from people that have favorited an item. But those same people waste all of the ad spend. Bottom line is for low cost items ads don’t work. Etsy does not send people to the store and the cost of these items can’t support ads

Everything about Etsy is frustrating. What a policy. My shop has been in vacation mode for two weeks due to indentification. Neatly uploaded my ID and Selfie on the Oct 15 and I am still waiting for a judgement while on the website they state “2-5 business days”. Have already sent several emails and get no response. People please put your time and money in another online business.

Nope you overstate your return as you seem to think that every penny of that $2957.33 was profit. Seriously do you think that whatever you sell costed you know time, effort or money to procure so you can sell on Etsy? The problem with Etsy adds is not that you don't get a return but the return come at too great a cost.

We don't think that at all, but if you have your products built out correctly you would be making a profit (like we are) at a 3 or 4 to 1 return on ad spend. Not to mention all of the OTHER reasons that ads are important

sorry, I do not agree.... I have a BESTSELLER dress on my shop, i have one or two orders PER DAY on that dress from organic traffic, and at the same time zero orders on Etsy ads. 40K views, 700 clicks, 1.7% click rate and 0 sales.... 0 . and on the same exact time it sales like wildfire outside the ads. I don't know who are those ads showing themselves to, but the chart doesn't lie... there in no correlation between the etsy ads audience and the organic traffic.

That sounds like a problem with the keywords leading to the people coming in :)

I opened my Etsy shop 7 months ago and I’m so disappointed! My shop is a tumbler wrap shop so there is no large profits with this. But here’s my breakdown: 1. 328 sales to date(I’m happy with that)😊 2. Made $1327.00 on sales(I’m happy with that) 3. Spent $1220.00 on ads(this is ridiculous) 4. Bottom line, only made $100 profit in 7 months. I’m done giving ETSY my money! They can get it from someone else! I’m just fortunate enough to not need this income to live off of. I think ETSY’s corporation is in trouble seeing all the bad press about how their business is tanking. I’m wondering if they are taking our money for themselves! I’m done with them!🤬
