Thanks Chelsea. I have a large Subaru Ascent SUV, which has required moving a step ladder around quite a bit to get the top and even the top middle of the windshield for a contact wash. I appreciate your clear explanation and comparison of options for using a quality mitt on a pole, which I have been avoiding out of concern for marring the clear coat. The emphasis on a good prewash process and quality wash pad eases my concerns. Made me realize that it is not much different than doing it by hand if properly done.

I prefer a Microfiber type MIT on a telescoping rod for large vehicles, rvs* and boats, I dip and do a panel and repeat, I prewash rinse and wash, dunk it do a panel and repeat. I also use a rinseless wash and maybe add some drying aid soap if needed. Keep up the hard work.

If i had to i would use the one that you're useing, But in Australia we don't have many of these "truck's" as they are a imported thing. We do have the smaller (Dual cab Utes) but blessed @ 180cm with long arm's i don't have to much of a issue.

I have a ram 1500 truck that I want to maintain I did notice the pivot end on that mit in stick did not conform to the full surface. Can you elaborate on your thoughts. It looked like it went heavy on the heel of the mit
@attention2detailswchelsea4 ай бұрын
@@lakeville1853 it does go a little heavy in the heel of the mitt like you said but it’s safer and better than other extension mitts that I’ve used so you just have to work with it more in the side vs straight on to allow it to be flush

Great video! Question. I have all these very tiny circular “stuck on” dirt spots on the hood of my car. Maybe bug guys or something. Idk. Kinda orange in color. I can get them off if I scrub real hard, but I mean hard scrubbing and am worried I’m gonna scratch the paint. What little brush / tool would you recommend for this?
@attention2detailswchelsea27 күн бұрын
Sounds like rail dust which can turn to rust if not removed. Try a iron remover first to break the chemical Bond the rail dust has with the paint and then do a clay bar or clay towel to remove. Be careful not to scrub aggressively as you can scratch or marr the paint with clay towels and bars so you may want to polish after.
I’d like to try that but I’m having difficulty finding a foam mounting head. As thick as a good mitt may be , I like the safety of a foam pad at the head of the pole to slide to mitt onto. I believe it would also aid in contact with contoured surfaces vs a flat plastic hard surface .

3/25/24 11:12am . Good morning . Sean here from NJ. A fan of your philosophy’s and videos. May I ask your opinion on boars hair brush on a pole ? For 18yrs I’ve been using boars hair brush on my black pick trucks with soapy water to agitate my layer of foam before moving onto my mitt wash. I’ve had great success . It’s pricey anywhere from 60.00 to 90.00 depending on brand and vendor. Now I take very good care of my boars hair brush after wash and always presoak before using. Life span ( for me ) is 3 to 5 years or more . I did purchase the Griots rectangular shaped buckets ( 2 bucket system )to give me more space to agitate brush during rinse & resoaping .Your thoughts ? Regards . . .SEAN

While they may be the safest option for brushes they are still aggressive on paint as most are still abrading the paint with the dirt and brushes combined. I prefer something like a mitt on a stick with a microfiber pad as they are more forgiving on paint and hold more soap/lubrication

I bought the expensive boars hair brush that griots sells. Used it once and it swirrelled my Honda Accord. I'll probably just keep it for doing wheels.

Early spring, white GMC 1500 Sierra, front is covered with bug guts and the black polished and chrome are a beast to keep clean. I am using Griot’s Ceramic 3-in-1 wax and I have pretty good hydrophobic behavior on the front end. Would some other “wax or product” help washing the nooks and crannies?
@attention2detailswchelsea8 ай бұрын
You could try a spray and rinse product like Mckees 37 Hydro blue graphene for the nooks and crannies

Thank you Chelsea. I really learn a lot from your video’s. Can you tell me if the mitt on a stick pad is designed to fit any universally threaded pole or does it have to be their own pole. I recently ordered their pad after watching your video along with an assortment of extra mitts and towels but not the pole because I already have several high quality extension paint poles and even though the threads look like the same acme threads mine don’t seem to fit. Don’t know if I got a bad one or not so I thought I’d ask someone who has one. Thanks again

Chelsea, the mitt on a stick doesn’t have a maneuverable head so it looks to be awkward in trying to angle it to reach the roof of an SUV type vehicle. Do you agree?

@@christophercattieDo you like the original pole better, vs. the padded one on the Pro? I’m undecided, but definitely wanna buy one. The first doesn’t seem adjustable? But the Pro’s pole, besides being thicker (which I’m not sure I’d like), with all three segments in, it’s quite long. The older style length seems handy, as Chelsea pushes along her bucket. Love the new head with forward/back and left/right controls to prevent uncontrollable wobbliness.
