I am always intrigued by the American Thanksgiving. Is this pre-Christmas or as well as Christmas? I would really love to know. My whole Christmas has gone out the window this year as I’ve been diagnosed with Breast Cancer and I had my op last week which originally was going to be a lumpectomy but two different cancers in one breast were found; one more aggressive than the other; so a mastectomy was necessary. From diagnosis to operation was a mere five weeks. However, weak as I feel at the moment and yes somewhat tearful; I thank God that there are people in this world who have the knowledge to try and make people better. I just have to tell myself that Jesus was born before we put up Christmas trees and so I will put up my Nativity set and a few side decorations just to be a bit Christmassy. I love your modus operandi, you are right to tidy a room to relax in and to put on the washing machine as you busy yourself in the Kitchen Nikki. Eventually it all comes together. Love the life you live; Live the life you love. 💖

I was feeling tired and drained after a long day at work. Got home and watched a few minutes of your video, took a little nap, and then was re-energized to do some tidying. We are finishing a renovation of our upstairs, and it has felt a little pointless to try to clean around that, but your videos always lift me up and make me want to make something beautiful... or at least better!

I agree with you Nikki, with not putting up videos when you are not in the “mood”. Some people do anyways, sometimes with their couples (when you know there’s tension) and though it makes it “real” and “relatable”, it’s just painful to watch 😬 And it’s also put there publicly for people to judge your entire life on that. Happy Thanksgiving, I thought your table looked fabulous 💕 I also had Thanksgiving at my home this year. It’s usually celebrated at my Mothers house but she fractured her ankle and so I stepped up. The holidays are a lot of fun but lots of work. We all had a great time and missed loved ones who are dealing with Covid. In 2020, I never personally knew one person who had Covid and now at the end of 2021 we have seven members with it. I'm happy to know you enjoyed this! I use the pink grapefruit wash from Trader Joe's. I like that it doesn't dry out my face and is mild enough and doubles as hand wash. Much cheaper that way too and smells lovely!

Nicki, I’d like to hear more on your perspective regarding the state of your kitchen that was left after Jorge and the kids cooked in it the night before. For me, I in the past and even now would find that highly inconsiderate for other household members to create a big mess and leave it knowing that you or I would clean up after them. That would really push my buttons and cause me to be angry/resentful. You didn’t seem to be bothered by it or atleast show that on camera. So I’m curious to hear more what your feelings are on that. I believe no one should be excused from cleaning up after themselves that resides in the home and you/I aren’t the maid. At the same time, perhaps I’m making it more of an issue than it needs to be in the grand scheme of things. All of that to say, I appreciate that you seem to prefer harmony over strife and maybe you see that as sweating over the small stuff.

My first reaction was…well, I’d have a family meeting. I used to resent it when my husband cooks, I clean up. When I cook, I clean up. There was no discussion involved, until we had one. 😄. But, oddly enough, I enjoy putting things to rights. That way things are done “correctly. 😉. He does help clear the table , prepares the morning coffee and puts the cloth napkins in the basket. God frequently reminds me of the many little things that my husband does for me and helps me with. I’ve noticed that my resentment appears when I’m tired, not feeling tip top or am in an inexplicable mood. I turn my distorted thoughts over to God and we straighten them out. Now, for the most part, my husband doesn’t know that I’m annoyed because I have a more balanced view and correct myself. In the long run, it really doesn’t take that much time to set things back to order. Also, I am neat and tidy, everything in its place. That works for me, but in other families, a discussion on working together may be a good idea. Resentment doesn’t bless anyone.

A lot of times it’s easier to just fix it yourself. Did you see how her mood lifted with each thing that got put away and cleaned and then she got her painting done and wore something beautiful and she was like a new woman, especially after her bath.

What I mean is she’s doing it for herself because it makes her feel better and the animosity of looking still it all day while the kids were at school would make her feel worse. At least that’s why I clean up after people. It’s because I like it clean haha
