I really enjoy the lessons. I don't have the time to play in my local club, but I really enjoy learning. You're a great teacher.

Nice example board 9. Uppercut offered and loser discarded in lieu of over ruff. Pretty.

Nice examples, although nowadays most players prefer to use UDCA, so these signals would be just the opposite, for Attitude and Count.
@ChrisHasney2 ай бұрын
I don't know anyone who teaches udca to beginners or advanced beginners. The only exception would be if that is commonplace in your particular club. Then you're pretty much forced to teach it.

Upside Down Count and Attitude signals are fine, if you want to use them. Clearly you must agree in advance. I think standard signals are better for less- experienced players.

If you false-card, isn't there a danger your partner mistakes it for an attitude signal?
@umtatraining2 ай бұрын
There is always the danger that you might either 'false card' or you may have a singleton, in which case the partner would not be able to plan the defence correctly, but I prefer to just signal correctly - an experienced Declarer would anyway not be fooled by your 'false carding', but the bigger danger is that your 'wrong' signal may completely spoil your defence, which is usually what happens in the majority of the cases.

Yes, in general a defender should not falsecard as he may confuse partner. Declarer can falsecard freely, as you may only confuse the opponents. One exception if that you can falsecard as a defender, if it does not matter whether your partner is misled - for example, in a slam contract there may be no chance partner will ever gain the lead
