Thank you very much for this video! I am in my late 60s and developed dystonia about 3 years ago. It's mostly in my neck and shoulder. It also affects one of my feet. I picked up your book recently and it has been very helpful. I worked a very high stress and high tension job for most of my adult life. Now that I'm retired, I feel that my body doesn't know how to act since the big stress factors are gone. So it's doing it's darndest to make me aware of residual stress in my body that I used to ignore. The hardest part about doing this meditation is that while I'm trying to put my awareness into my feet, my neck and shoulder seem to tense up more, clamoring for attention as it were. I have to sit with that for a while and figure out why. Or maybe I don't need to figure out why, and just repeat the meditation until the realization happens. Anyway, thank you so much for your book and your videos. They are very helpful. ♥️

Hi there I am new to this video as I have just bought Ruth’s book and want to begin my healing journey. I was diagnosed with dystonia about 18 months ago. It is in my eyes and jaw and I have been having Botox treatments. They have been partially successful but over time I have realised myself that there is a huge emotional component to my symptoms. I was drawn to reply to your comment because like you I had a very stressful job and my dystonia arose after I took early retirement. I also had some adverse life events immediately after retiring and I think my body which thought it could relax felt attacked and scared again. I am encouraged by the fact that you have found Ruth’s methods helpful, I hope that you have continued to heal. I am hoping to recover fully myself but just starting the attunement exercise. Thank you for your helpful comment which has encouraged me and many thanks to Ruth for giving us hope 💕

Shame the advertising has recently been added, it totally takes away the momentum of a great video

Quite interesting. Mind over matter, and all that. It took away my dystonia, and allowed me to sleep. I think it creates a cerebral impression, and I might be able to replicate that easier going forward.

Great ! Thank You for sharing ! Your insights and information are just amazing! Could you please suggest anything for unlocking the breathing ? I am a trumpet player not directly having any specific dystonia symptoms, but I have huge performance blocks that seem unbreakable over the 30 years of playing. I am waiting impatiently until I can buy your new book!

Thank you for your message. The blocked breathing is part of the overall survival response. This exercise is a great start. Over the next few weeks I will record a second exercise. My book will give you both the theortical and practical answers you are looking for.

Hello, great stuff. The emotional side of it reminds me of Dr Ferber approach. Always felt that Farias and Ferber were a great complement to each other. Any idea of what happened to Dr Ferber? I don’t find anything on him anymore. Thx for the videos :-)

Absolutely yes. Many people have resolved their cervical dystonia by following all the steps that I lay out in my book. It responds particularly well to my method.

Hi, what do you think of Rolfing as a supplementary tool for treatment?

There are many great tools that support the body to release stored trauma. I encourage all of them. The most important aspect of them is working with a therapist who is able to deeply attune to you and your process.

Find a part of your body that you can feel, it might be the soles of your feet on the ground for instance. Begin with just this area. Over time your awareness will expand at its own pace.
