Thank you, Dale! I have a 2011 Polaris Sportsman XP 850 similar to yours with less than 300 miles on it. I inspected the air filter and found about 1/16" of oil in the airbox. The only place the air filter had any visible issue was on the bottom of the filter where the oil had been ejected. It was dark and stained in that area, although it was dry. Your video showed me what was occurring, and a repair person at a Polaris dealer confirmed it. Your clear and understandable video showed me exactly what to expect, and I will now order the breather kit and correct it. Thanks again!

My research indicated that this is a common problem with the 2011 XP 850. This fix was included with the newer models and I think the 2017 model has the same parts. I bought my Polaris XP 850 used and it now has 4,700 miles on it and it still runs great.

M y 2011 850 spent 7 accumulated months in the shop in the first year since brand new at the local dealer. First it was in for the first breather parts fix then after the first ride found more oil in airbox, back to the dealer for another 3 months for the second parts fix . Then it was overheating so I took it home after being pulled 10 miles through bush and installed a switch to manually turn on fan. After the clutch packed in I traded it in for a Can Am. Obviously that particular year model was a lemon, but it was the excuses and endless time in shop really soured any love I had for Polaris. Thanks for the vid Dale.

I got my 2011 850 used at a local dealer and I soon found out why it was a low price. After a lot of repairs it's been reliable for the past 1,000 miles .

I've ridden for 150 miles or more since the fix and I still don't see any sign of oil in the air box. It appears the fix in this video solved the problem.

Can u post a link to kit?

This seems like it would be a bad situation if it rolled. Without the valve, the oil would just pour out.

My 2016 is 3 weeks old and I'm getting oil in the air box, do you think it's warranty
@dalechristensen34337 жыл бұрын
Yes I think it's a warranty issue. I think the fix in the video has been installed on all Polaris XP 850's since late 2012.

Its not been fixed and they will do all they can to get out of warranty. Make sure its top notch if you take it in or theyll refuse and blame you
