I had one of these doing the same thing, it was around ten years old so I thought maybe its dead. Put a new battery in it, and it would work, for a day or two then stop. I thought it was the battery connector so i replaced it with the same results. I also thought it was the micro switch/trigger so I'd hit that with Deoxit and it would work ...for a day or two. Replaced the micro switch and the cap close to it and its worked fine ever since. I ripped the old switch apart and it looked like it had whisker looking stuff coming off the posts shorting things out. My unit is almost exactly the same inside, so nice to see a different model. Thanks for sharing!

Forget Phillips vs Robertson, whoever designed the 9v battery clip deserves eternal punishment...

Could come handy, seen a lot of guys repair stuff using these to isolate bad components. Good luck and great repair.

I have a thermal camera for that, but another tool for the toolbox.

I have two different kinds. One for checking fevers, the other for checking other surfaces. It's handy for cooking temps. Interesting to see the inside of one. I find vice grips are great for squeezing things. You can adjust how much the jaws close a little at a time to prevent squeezing something too much.

I'll never understand why the world chose Phillips over Robertson. Robertson is darn near the perfect screw head type.
@12voltvidsКүн бұрын
Well that's because it was designed and made in Canada. The Americans would never accept a superior product they didn't invent. It's not "darn near perfect" it is PERFECT. Why do you think the torx is designed the way it is. Its basically 2 robertson cuts 45" apart. More points means more torque is transferred. Now the reason phillips was designed in the first place you have to go back to the early days of auto assembly. The boys on the line were over torquing screws and the phillips screw was designed to cam out before the screw was damaged due to over torque.

You can use the clips of old batteries and just solder on wires and put heatshrink over it that you can cut open.

9:56 - My guess is that the software locked up and removing the battery for a few minutes fixed it.

Dave what do you think of the prime minister quitting? Sad or jumping up and down happy? Just asking.

I don't really give a shit. Not really anyone to vote for. I won't be voting for polieve so i probably won't even bother. Financially i have done much better under the libs than i ever did under the conservatives and that had nothing to do with the cerb payments that many took advantage of during the pandemic because i work for essential services so i was working. The conservatives had increased the retirement age to 67 and Trudeau brought it back to 65. Not that it affects me yet but it would have if he hasn't brought it back as I prepare to retire.
