I'm a Retired Printer / Copier technician, the major reason the hinges fail is customer abuse, trying to close the lid on a bulky object / dropping the machine / angry customer etc. Generic toner and drums are available for these and work very well !! I have had as much frustration with these and various HP, Canon, Lexmark, Toshiba, and Ricoh printers as your having now !! I was watching "Dave" at EEVBLOG and had a laughing fit at how excited he got over all the different parts and he said it was all so complicated ... I seem to be a Mechanical Magician and have Glued, Screwed, JB Welded, Paper clipped, and Duct Taped the best of them back together. I even had someone call me many years ago about a liquid toned machine that had been stolen or actually attempted to steal and abandoned because it leaked all over the crooks !! Those were the Days, My Friends !! LOL ... Not !!

After having a toner printer for several years, I'll never go back to an inkjet. I rarely print pictures so pic quality isn't an issue for me, and I don't use a printer much. Every inkjet I've had, the ink cartridges end up drying up long before they're near empty. Toner cartridges last forever practically.
@12voltvids14 күн бұрын
That's precisely why its gone to recycling. Same with the one with the broken scanner. Now that I have reset the other brother have to get it working. Since my computer is old, no drivers available. F*** Microsoft with their end of support for win 7

Former Lexmark tech here, Clean the pick tires on your printer, they are located in the paper tray area. clean them then try a rubber rejuvenator. if that does not fix it, take the pick tires off, flip them inside out and reinstall on the printer, that will most likely stop your printer pulling multiple pages. The brother "drums" which is the photoconductor and charger rollers are a separate cartridge case that the toner cartridge slides into..Its just a dummy counter, there's a setting buried that will restart that counter, most of the time I replace them when they start to show visible streaks or "dead spots" on printouts. which is usually a drum counter reset 3 times. Don't mess with Inkjet's they are junk allofum! , get a laser printer. If you get your hands on a Lexmark X792(color) or T654 they were my favorites to service, simple designs and they just worked...their newer stuff is not that great.

This one real simple. Open cover and press clear! Was tossed out because user couldn't figure it out, couldn't find the manual, didn't go to web site, and couldn't get through to tech support so they bought a new one. Now I have to try to find drivers so I can test it. This will be a keeper if I can get it to print. Looking up.

Good thing I pretty much don't need printer anymore, and very rarely even the scanner too. I've got two printers, Canon BJC-2100 from 2001, which worked fine, but of course the ink cartridges always dried very quickly, and this didn't have scanner as a standard equipment. Then in 2017 bought a HP DeskJet 2132, which has scanner as well. Feels the ink cartridges dry out even faster than in the Canon, and from new, the paper insert mechanism has been very weak, it just doesn't get good grip from the paper, so have to manually feed the paper one page at the time, so it would get a grip of the paper, pull it in and print. Scanner works fine though. I don't think I'll ever buy another printer.

The Replace Drum message is based on a counter and it probably still has a lot of life left in it. To reset the counter; 1. With the front cover open, press Clear. 2. When prompted, press 1 to confirm. 3. When the LCD shows Accepted, close the front cover.

These stupid counters and planned obsolescence I found a Samsung CLP-310N in the trash here where i live, and that had low toner and a "worn out drum" according to the printer but i snapped out a little lid on the side of the drum, and there it was two resistors that where 12ohms two of them in series. So I replaced them with what I had on hand two 15ohm ones, soldered them in and pushed the drum into the machine, and thad did reset the counter still 11 years later I am using this printer works flawlessly. Only thing I had to replace once was the fuser as some foreign object flew into it and schredded the roller (the printer stands inside my tiny workshop) but fixed that with an used part for pennies and replaced the toner cartridges 5 years ago or so still works great.

On Pixmas the error code 6000 usually means paper jam. So maybe even bent and/or worn rollers. Does not mean that that Pixma is worth fixing, though. I personally fix just those Epson tank refilling printers (for example L4150) for local pre-school facilities. They usually do not have much money to spent on a new computer equipment.

I have a Brother MFC-9340CDW color laser MFC that has been rock solid for years. Works fine with cheap toner. Also have a newer Canon G3260 inkjet for photo/transfer prints. It's a megatank design, so there's nothing to dry up or expire, and (unlike the Epson it replaced) that damn maintenance sponge is a cheap replaceable cartridge.

I like this printer at 4:34 timeline, I have the basic laserjet printer made by the same company including HL-L2340DW, and nobody in the warehouse want anything to do with it, I can use something to print signs, calendars (from Calendar Creator Plus from 1992), tags, instruction manuals, schematics, coloring pages, and quotations. on the other hand, I got two other laserjet printers including HP P1006 and P1102w, and it prints okay. Plus I have HP Laserjet Pro MFP M426f-M427f PCL 6, it prints so quick and it prints just fine.

I've an HP Envy Photo 7858 that also picks up more than one sheet of paper while printing. After cleaning all areas making contact with the paper, it still does that. Other than feeding one sheet at a time, I found fanning the sheets helps reduce this issue but not eliminate it. All these things are made in China or some part of Asia using cheaply made plastic parts, planned obsolescence and questionable quality control. They should give these things free when purchasing a set of cartridges.

HAHAHAHAH Thanks Dave. The best Printer I had that I lost to My House fire was a 4 Color Laser that I got at an Auction. It was on the Floor in a Garage under a shelving unit with the Front facing the Wall and no bids to it when the time came for anything on the shelving unit. I saw it well in advance and knew what it was and left it there. I bid a $1.oo and took it home. 1 Black toner Cartridge later and it was off to the Races with great color photos.

the Brother printer Model - HL-L2390DW is a good unit that you might still be able to get - I got mine from Staples, mine seems to not jam and get hungry to eat paper 4 to 4.5 star rating.

Ink tank or laser printers are the best way to go if you need to print anything. HP and Canon draw you in selling a printer for $39 but then the ink it comes with is good for a few pages and the replacement inks are $80.

The printer "eating paper" problem is most often the paper's fault. Humidity makes the sheets stick together. Try "fanning" the sheets before you put them in the paper tray ... Hold the pack by one end and flex the other end, allowing the sheets to spring up one at a time... turn it around and repeat.
@12voltvids14 күн бұрын
Already did that and it still picks up multiple sheets.

Canon support code 6000 is a paper jam but still buying the ink wouldn't be worthwhile because the print head is probably clogged as well. You can see where the profit is. Just go into Staples and look at the big wall of expensive ink cartridges (notably HP which should stand for High Profit).
