Your production quality (lighting, sound, editing) is great. I started, as a retail trader, around the time you started as a professional one- I cannot explain the pain involved in knowing that there's a truth (to any given market) that's just out of your reach. Thanks for opening a window to, what has to be, the most opaque industry left in the modern world.

Adam, You stated (with diagram@4:38 mins.) that intraday traders provide liqiudity, not direction. Then you stated (with diagram@5:06 mins.) intraday buyers push the market high, then lower, then higher into a breakout where OTF find value. I really want to understand very clearly what you are explaining about BM and IBM. So, who's really pushing the market out of fair value causing the imbalances in either direction? Thank you taking the time to respond and I truly appreciate your wisdom and knowledge. Rick

Hi Rick, thanks for the comment. Long term direction or sustained moves are the result of OTF participants.

@@RickSEA-7733 You're very welcome Rick! Personally I traded through Interactive Brokers but my charts were populated with DxFeed. You may want to watch my video on Market Data Feeds.
@RickSEA-77333 ай бұрын
Thanks Adam, I did watch that video . I am wondering strictly about ease of use and simplicity. Because what I have seen within your video MotionWave provides necessary charts with dxfeed option. Whereas, Sierra provides Denali data with Teton routing. But I'm wrestling with the vintage platform of Sierra. And you have experience with both platforms and me only with Sierra. I also use TOS and TradingView. TOS for internals and swing. Tradingview for charts and ease of use. I would love to trade on TradingView but they only provide CQG. Also, I use AMP, and they provide MotionWave , and yes I can test it for 2 weeks, but I'm interested in your experience with MW. Holy cow, sorry for being so windy, but value your experience so I just don't spin wheels. Thanks Adam, I'm pretty sure you get what I'm laboriously trying to ask.😂
@JumpstartTrading3 ай бұрын
Sierra is really fast and lightweight, I think it's one of the best. However, I was always a Mac User and was tired of running Parallels to use Sierra. I had a student who was using MW and is a smart guy with a lot of programming in his background. He used MW and loved it so I tested for about six months and decided to make the switch. I used MW for the last 3 years of my career. It's a very good platform. I primarily used Sierra and MW just for my charting as I still traded through Interactive Brokers. You can link IB with MW but IB's data feed is aggregated so it won't work for things like volume profiles. So I can't really comment form an order placement perspective on either of them. If you're currently on Sierra I wouldn't leave them unless you prefer Mac over Windows.

Yes! I'm so happy you covered this. But the idea of Auction has always made my head spin. I understand the concept of supply/demand - as you explained in the beginning. But what's always confused me is it doesn't seem there's an actual store or some conglomerate setting the price, is there? Are the owners of all the corps in the underlying NQ setting the price with their stock share price, for example? But, aren't you and I both the sellers and buyers? Or is it like eBay, where someone buys directly from the company, and we just auction it off amongst ourselves? Except we don't really get to set the price, unless I guess we put in a Limit order hoping the price reaches that point. But at that point, I have nothing to sell - it's just a hope that the price gets there and I get an entry. There's no actual inventory (is there?) Once I purchase contracts, then I immediately become the seller - since I have the inventory now. But, I can't really set the price. I'm pretty much at the mercy of other sellers and buyers pushing the price to where I want it. Or are there corporations raising/lowering the price accordingly? See - making my head spin LOL. If I can't fully visualize this concept, I can't internalize it. And that's always been my issue. Maybe you can help clear this up a little more?

@@JumpstartTrading - thanks, I appreciate the link. It makes sense with actual stock prices, when a company doesn't have a lot of stocks to sell, that the price goes up, etc. But in futures - this is where Supply and Demand doesn't make sense to me. It makes more sense to me with Gold, Oil, Cattle, etc - since they could actually deliver a bunch of cows to your door LOL (not really - but the possibility is there I've heard). These are tangible assets. But NQ, S&P, etc are just derivatives. There aren't any tangible inventory - so how could there be supply? SOOOO confusing. :(
@JumpstartTrading Жыл бұрын
The supply is created when you place a trade, as you're entering into a contract with the other side of your position.
@RayAntG Жыл бұрын
It’s a two way auction…meaning it simply comes down to bulls vs. bears. Either one side is winning in which the price is trending in one direction or the market is balanced and trading in a range. Eventually though, one side will gain the upper hand and price will break out from balance and become imbalanced. Supply and demand in financial markets simply equates to which side has the upper hand….bulls or bears. It’s erroneous to compare it to a traditional auction like such as eBay, in which there’s an item for sale and the seller has complete control of the price. That’s where the confusion sets in with auction market theory.

hi who decides the actual prices of a stock ?for example if news comes out do any owners of the stock decide and can freely ask what ever they want for the stock which drives the stock price up? or is there some kind of rule or term they must follow to raise the price of a stock? who decides these things? OR is price determined by strict supply demand rules by the float/ outstanding shares available?
@JumpstartTrading Жыл бұрын
Supply and demand drives market prices, that's it. If you have a house that your selling, it's only worth what someones willing to pay for it. No different in the financial markets.

Very clear presentations with helpful easy to understand graphics and relevant content. The pace is a tad too fast, and the language a tad too technical. It would help if you could take the time to explain with real world examples and real charts and dropped the technical terms once introduced. For example in this video you could have used the example of a real chart with volume footprints during Apple's earnings announcement, or the SPY during FOMC.

Sometimes as divergence will be showing on the 3 min, but not the 5 min. sometime the 1 day, but not the one month. etc@@JumpstartTrading

I like your video but really is in terms of a true stock (not forex) there is only buyers and sellers (no bears) - you cant short a share in the true sense you just buy it and then sell it when you want. If you sell it and theres a new buyer waiting thats the fill - no new buyers waiting means the person wanting to sell their stock has to drop the price. Where are the bears in this equation? its only bulls selling what they have bought to other bulls??
@supercarsshow36304 ай бұрын
Shoting is the same on all markets. In stocks you borrow the shares from someone who is who long term investor like pension funds and retirement accounts through your broker who locates the shares for a fee and of course you pay also a small interest so yeah there are bears in every markets.
