Just to let you guys know that the problem with the old Actis Pro line’s earcup getting loose and eventually break… I think it’ll happen to the new Arcits Nova line as well… mine’s already getting kinda loose on one side and I take really good care of it….. Steel Series should have used metal parts instead of plastic… other than that it’s a rather perfect gaming headset.

For anyone worried or on the fence about the maxwell and it’s size. I have a fairly tall and big head, 7 3/4 hat. They fit me perfect on the middle setting of the strap. I was worried it might be to heavy, I don’t find it any heavier than any other high quality headset. I use WC freeze pads and the headset is insanely comfortable. It doesn’t feel heavy at all when holding it, just well built. I do have a pretty strong linebacker type neck but I can’t imagine it being too much for someone smaller. It honestly doesn’t feel “heavy” to me at all. Remember these weights are in grams so even a bigger number still isn’t heavy. It will feel heavier if you’re used to all plastic headsets but to me it just feels solid and well built. Should fit any head very comfortably and I played for 7 hours straight with no weight or neck issues. Hope this helps

I actually really like the stock cushions on my nove pro wireless. I tried the wicked cushion pads and hated them. I tried both the WC freeze gel and the leather ones. The freeze gel is the worst, it makes the headset sound awful! And makes it much heavier. The WC leather pads were decent. But I still prefer the stock pads for the better sound. Trust me, I have been on the same path, got the wc upgrade, I could feel the bump, never had issues with the stock one, but now after a few months I'm starting to feel it, it takes time. The WC freeze is horrible, heavy, uncomfortable, and sound quality is bad, as in worse than my 100 dollars sony headphones. My big mistake was trust this reviewer, he's just selling the product, he gets free headphones and probably also paid by WC too.

10:58 THANK YOU FOR SHOWING THAT! I've been asking myself if you can use the integrated mics as a "ghetto mic" on their own and you not only mentioned it, but showed how it sounds! That's HUGE for me for 2 reasons: 1. It actually sounds good and you don't have to rip the mic out and ram it back in sometimes countless times a day, often for little things... Now you flip a switch, use mic, turn switch back off... And if you're actually playing/talking for a while, THEN plug the mic in, perfect! 2. I ALWAYS misplace my mic, I've spent up to 15 minutes looking for it... 😀So this feature ALONE buys Audeze some HUGE brownie points with me, because that is the kind of thinking I appreciate! Can't wait to receive mine beginning next week!

Audeze just hit a home run to me and it's about time. I've been holding off on wireless headsets for 2 reasons. 1 is the lackluster battery life which is countered by SteelSeries and their swappable battery system and finally...hate to say it but it's not a SteelSeries product. No offense to SteelSeries as they make good products but their sound signature doesn't hit home with me and I'm not sure it ever will. The 20 min charge for all day play/ "80 hours" with a full charge finally takes the cake for me and now I can comfortably invest in a wireless set of cans now. Great coverage of this new headset techne and thank you :).

I owned ANPW for a week and had to return. The ANC bump is definitely a real thing, I ordered Wicked Cushions within 24 hours of ownership. Get the big ones not the mid-tier ones like I did -- I could still feel the bump a tiny bit. The reason I returned was actually the elastic headband design, I don't know why that is the trend to put those in right now but they are ALL bad. Since there is constant tension in the band (like a stretched rubber band) it's always trying to reach neutral. This means it's always squeezing your head and sliding forward until it falls off the front of your head -- unbelievably annoying. ANPW do sound good especially when you find the High Gain setting in the SS Software. The mids and highs are crispy and I found the drivers themselves to be quite high resolution. I would say the ANPW easily competes with audio-grade headphones (with amp) in the $150-200 range. It's impressive for a wireless and the amount of features they pack in.

Personally the SteelSeries Nova Pro wins hands down over any other wireless headset. If you get the xbox version the headset works with everything, Xbox, PlayStation, PC, Mac, Switch and Phones. With the bluetooth you can listen and talk to your phone at the same times as gaming. The swappable batteries are one of the best features, never having to charge your headset while gaming is amazing. The wireless range is also unmatched, I have my console upstairs and I can walk downstairs and all over my house and still hear and talk to my friends. There are also ways to listen to two sources as the same time with the DAC, so you can hear both your PC and console at the same time if you want to for whatever reason. It's the versatility of SteelSeries premium headsets that I love, I'd take it over the improved audio quality any day.

I went with the Nova Pro since I already owned that PS4 Arctis Pro with Wicked Cushions. I also purchase the Xbox Nova Pro with Wicked Cushions. The reason I love these headsets is because you can swap batteries fast without powering off the headset on the Nova Pro sadly you have to power the Arctis Pro back up. I enjoy the phone Bluetooth call in feature, and the nice application you can run on the computer that gives you a lot of control. Now would be nice to get better sounds (studio quality) out of them out of the box but you can if you go in and tweak the EQ manually. The big deal for me is that they are super light even with all the features they pack is easier on my neck since I work behind a computer all day and after work I also use them for gaming or game dev/audio production. On top of that they work perfectly with the Xbox Series X. They are expensive but they are worth It in the end. I use a lot the dac of the unity so is nice to have it within reach. I did try the USB version of the AUDEZE back many years ago and after 30mins of gaming my head felt it was going to fall off due to the weight but dang the sound out of the 100mm planar was amazing.

The Arctis Pro wicked cushions are too big for the Novas. I swapped mine over and theyre really baggy - they sound awful. Wicked Cushions are a rip off anyway - these things cost a couple of dollars to make. I bought some generic black ones from that are exactly the same quality/look/feel (honestly I'd be very surprised if they DID NOT come from the same factory) for less than 7 USD on Thailand's equivalent of Amazon. Yeah Wicked Cushions are kinda good - sound a bit leaky but the comfort compensates somewhat, but Jesus, they are SERIOUSLY overpriced.

Some person asks about the Arctis Pro Wireless Version (Because i heard you can your that version everywhere but with what cost?): "So this version has 2 ports, 1 for pc 1 for xbox. The pc port will work fine with a pc i presume (full functionality), but what does "not all the features" mean if you were to connect a ps5 to the xbox port? Would i miss anything on PC side? Will i loose anything on a ps5/switch side?" Some person answered: "I'll try to be clearer. There are two USB-C ports on both versions. The PC/PS5 version (the expensive one for some reason) has two identical ports which are both fully compatible with PC, PS5, switch, etc. On the X version for XBOX instead, one of the 2 USB-C ports is fully compatible with XBOX only, the other instead has full compatibility with PC/PS5/switch. This means that: 1. The XBOX dedicated port cannot be used for PS5 at all, 2. this port will work on PC but you will miss out certain Sonar software features. Which features in particular I do not know, but apparently in the software the headset will appear as disconnected, not a good sign. Therefore, if you have both a PC and a PS5 the XBOX version will have complete functionality only if you manually swap the cable on the back and use the NON-XBOX USB port for both your devices. Basically to connect both PC and PS5 you want the other model." Is that true? Do you know about something like that? Please help

Had the penrose for a while and ended up selling them. Sound was amazing but they felt incomplete. Have always Mained Arctis pros wireless and since the release Arctis nova pro wireless. I always felt that Arctis are the best for fps games but the immersion for open world games could be better. Just ordered the maxwell and plan to primarily use them for open world rpg games and use nova pro for fps. Going to compare both for all types of games and will answer any questions by this time next week

I'm waiting for the Maxwell. I already own the Arctis Pro wireless which I use for movies too as I use them via the sdif out from my tv, I use a optical audio splitter for two Arctis pros. The surround effect from the DTS headphones X is just amazing when watching movies I dont know why more people aren't using it. It's actually incredible. As the PS5 only supports stereo out via a dongle there are no way to get surround headphones to work on PS5 unless you get the Arctis Pro/wireless headsets. So for stereo headphones the Maxwell are amazing and as the Penrose sound much better than the Nova then yes the Maxwell are a much better pick for 3D tempest use .

you can use PS5's audio engine, that's what the maxwell uses. On PC and Xbox they can use Sonic, DTSx, Adobe atmos, Adobe 3d, or razer's 3d, The xbox version comes with a license code for adobe atmos 3d. These should have height sounds.

build quality of that steelseries seems it won't last for years? not sure of course. I currently using HyperX Cloud II Wireless, not sure how worse this sounds compared to those two, but quality wise, this still feels brandnew and I've been using this everyday and it's about 4 years old now. I also have the wired Cloud II, about 6yrs old and still solid.

Normally like watching this, but this was not a very good comparison..... you can't cut videos short going into features and get an honest take, considering there's more missed than I count, and numerous areas where the audeze lacks. You touched the lack of simultaneous, which is a much bigger deal for many, than music. Example, I learned, as a person who works on the road, I use a tmobile portable internet set up, for at work, and this is the same for many at home. They're having big upnp issues, meaning it works much better to connect via mobile app, where that fancy noise canceling would shine. I can tell you, at least on Xbox, that mic would be great on mobile app, for the unfortunate tmobile user, but that noise suppression is useless in both party chat, and discord, both of which have very effective noise suppression software. Those replaceable batteries are also a much bigger deal than stated in here. Let me say from experience....I don't know anyone spending over 300 that hardly games. In heavy use, cared for, one should last as long as you want it to, while the other you're either going to be replacing, spending an arm and a leg to send in for a battery replacement if the company will do it, or praying not to break a some tiny little tight wire while trying to swap to some crap Amazon battery, that you can't trust in a couple of years. No mention of transparency mode, which is great for people with kids, which I think could be a high amount of buyers, considering I don't know many school age kids spending 300 or more on a headset. Audeze don't have it. I also don't know many people who want to game with one cup off, uncomfortably, or with a headset around their neck. I don't disagree, that if you're looking for a headset for just audio, and no need for features, and don't mind a possible replacement down the line, go audeze. It's audio functionality is going to be superior. If you need something good all around and make use of the features, the steelseries take it in a blowout. Also, in a sleeper, that can be found for a couple hundred on sale, if you don't mind wired, I think it's the cloud orbit s, uses 100mm audeze planar

I think this isn't fair to estimate price for the Nova Pro without WickedCushions, so altogether we have $299 for Audeze perfect from the box, and $350+$30=$380 for Nova Pro, and Audeze easily beat them in pretty much any category for 3/4 of the price.

Audeze aren't perfect from the box if your ears will heat up to infinity. Atleast myself I will buy WC no matter which headset I settle on. Both seem great for what they are but maybe I'll settle for the best: An Actual headphone with a seperate microphone. Its just not what you're looking for on console.

Is the app useful for the ps5? Or is it just for the pc? I have a pair of beoplay portals and the app definitely tweaks things even for console gaming. Though its not that great settings wise. Im really looking for a headset that has a good noise cancelling microphone which maxwell clearly shows. Would be nice to see the app isnt useless though.

I have them both and although I know most people see this as a slam dunk for the Maxwell, it really depends on how you use them. In your review, you always gave the win to Maxwell on the obvious segments but you didn't do the Nova justice on the simultaneous Bluetooth. That is HUGE and something he Maxwell simply can't do and the Nova does it seamlessly. But I think on the overall you are dead on. You just can't goup against the Maxwell at that price point. Best scenario is a person can have both and use situationally.

I got the arctis nova pro wireless thinking they would be worth $300+, and they sounded absolutely horrible. My barely functional $50 headset i still need to replace sounded like $300 instead of the nova pro wireless. it was so disappointing. people online were saying the same thing and were talking about how terrible the audio is on that headset. idk what headphones or headset to buy to replace my current ones tho because all i can do is take reviewers words for it and buy them to try myself. But just like with the nova pro wireless, i dont want to be extremely disappointed and have to send them back literally the same day they arrived.

Where steelseries excels is in its software. UI and options are top notch. A few minor eq tweaks and the sound difference was huge. Not to mention steelseries also has the same mic function to reduce external noise but it has to be enabled elsewhere. lastly i would add me and my friends all have Steelseries headsets and the mics all sound better than your sound tests.

@MisterCaution say what? we are talking about gaming/enthusiast headsets on a channel that does primarily gaming peripherals, with an emphasis on PCs. I've never used steelseries on console so I can't comment on the UI for console users, with the pro headset the EQ is right on the DAC though. I would bet mobile app eq is not a selling point to most of the viewers here. Not to mention leaving out apple users.
@RT-gaming
@RT-gaming Жыл бұрын
@MisterCaution again, I know there's UI for xbox not sure on PS but I already addressed that. My point was how many people is a mobile app a selling point for. I've used enough razer products to know their UI is hot trash to begin with. can't imagine how horrible the mobile software is. Logitech isn't bad but still not nearly as granular as steelseries.
@RT-gaming
@RT-gaming Жыл бұрын
@MisterCaution "I'm not following the logic of requiring a seperate system to control and update a headset.." bro you are literally arguing for that with a mobile app so thank you for agreeing with me, why does anyone need a mobile app for a gaming headset pc or console, when all the features can already be conveniently accessed out of box. Steelseries will update as it needs to through a console just as it would on pc and can be adjusted as it also has a display out of box with options and EQ ready to go plug and play. You're getting off topic now. this isn't about consoles vs PC, it's about some trash tier mobile apps. The steelseries headset literally doesn't need a mobile app. You can adjust nearly everything using the volume wheel on the headset and the read out on the base station control. For more granular adjustments the user interface can be used.
@RT-gaming

@AmpEdition correct. I made some evaluations of my experience with Steelseries originally, contrasting a few point that were made in the video. Plus the mic test here sounds worse than what I have personally experienced. The proceeding conversation was about the lack of a mobile app which I thought was completely unnecessary. The app and the conversation.

Even if you own maxwell, updates are always required and crucial on a pc. Unless you the headset is specifically and only made for one console. For an example razer kaira pro Xbox only can be updated through Xbox, but because it was mostly intended to Xbox & not pc. Having a mobile app or not, a pc is still going to be required. Sucks to say
