I've tried both. Some things almost nobody mentions about the Elite: 1. It has very little clamping force and a loose headband, meaning that it moves a lot on smaller heads. It always feels like sliding off, even if it doesn't. 2. The joints between the ear cups and the headband are _loud_. You'll hear knocking sounds when swiveling your head. It's annoying and flimsy. 3. The blue LED can't be turned off and is very bright. Due to it's position and how the headset is shaped, it pierces the peripheral vision of your right eye especially in the dark and you have to move the headset back every now and then to avoid it. 4. Again, because of how the Elite is shaped, you can't rest the back of your head against anything, as the plastic arms will collide with it. This should be brought up and held against the Elites in an honest review. Great sound, great looks, but leaves a lot to be desired ergonomically.

@@JJSideshowBob Maxwell’s aren’t exactly winning comfort awards. They’re heavy and the adjustability design is pretty bad. They are tolerable and better with aftermarket pads. But many other options are more comfortable. That said, Maxwells blow out everything else as far as sound quality goes for a gaming headset IMO. Tries Elites myself and they are clean and crisp sounding. But lack the same level of depth and clarity and range of the Maxwells. Maxwells are EQ friendly and work decent to very well for any application. Elite’s are just a bit less dynamic IMO.

I wear glasses and as a previous owner of the Penrose I was very disappointed when I received my Maxwells and I was testing them. I tested lots of bass heavy songs and the bass was really lacking the physicality that the Penrose had. Then during my testing I had to clean my glasses, so I took them off and WOW! Once the glasses were off I felt the bass so hard I thought my teeth were going to fall out. Keep in mind I use Apple Music with the “hiphop” EQ as I find it good for hiphop and heavy metal. I also had tweaked with the EQ in the Audeze app. I will say that the Wicked Cushions took away the bass a tiny bit, but it’s still amazing. The bass booms without ruining the highs or mids. I’m getting the Elite next week when it’s released. Already a lot of you have praised the sound quality on the Sony Pulse Elite, which isn’t surprising, but also highly praised the imaging on the Sony Pulse Elite and apparently it’s insanely good, which is surprising as planar magnetic drivers are known for being prone to driver mismatch and even high end headphones that cost thousands don’t even have the best imaging I’ve tried and tested the Audeze Maxwell and while of course it has amazing sound quality, it really falls short on imaging when compared to even headsets that cost half its price So I think choosing between the Sony Pulse Elite and Audeze Maxwell shouldn’t be hard at all. If you want that sub base below 30Hz get the Maxwell, but if you’re an FPS gamer, which means you don’t need that sub base below 30Hz and need exceptional imaging, get the Sony Pulse Elite

@Jayjayxxx00710 ай бұрын
The imaging is what I’m also getting these for, and with the 3d audio on it should be even better. As long as the base is tight and clean I’ll be fine with it don’t need it to rattle my eardrums. I’m excited to replay days gone with them

@@Jayjayxxx007 As Joe explained it’s a clean bass, not rumbling bass, but I’m ok with that and yes the imaging is what I want it for and as these use the planar magnetic drivers, it has that great sound quality anyway and having great imaging is a bonus, because normally planar magnetic drivers don’t have good imaging capability, unless you spend thousands on a high end planar magnetic headphone and even then, they’re not the best at imaging. Somehow Sony has managed to get these to image at high level as per Joe and I trust his word, he has never failed to provide accurate information

I have both, because my Maxwell's broke (metal headband came off on one side), thus I got the Pulse Elite as a temp replacement and backup, whilst my Maxwells are sent back to the single supplier in my country, for repair or replacement, which can take weeks. The weight of the Maxwells don't bother me. I feel the ear cuffs are bigger on the Maxwells, making them more comfortable for all day use, I've had one ear feel squashed inside the Elite, on one side, needing constant adjustment when it happens. The flimsy plastic feel of the Elite makes me worried they'll break in everyday use, I'm so very careful with them, as I am with the Maxwells. Sounds wise, watching videos, Spotify, and single player story gaming, they are both so similar as to not make much difference, however I noticed some of the more subtle sounds, such as footsteps on dirt or gravel, better with the Maxwell set. One thing I will miss when the Maxwell set come back is the simultaneous Bluetooth, so I can take calls mid game without removing my headset.

The pulse elite seems to have too many issues for it to be a recommendation. When you have competition like the SS Nova 7 for just a touch extra (sometimes the same price when on sale) Seems that features took priority over build and sound with the Pulse
@nazarethproductions709511 ай бұрын
Sound on nova 7 is trash, build quality on pulse elite is questionable right now but as far as sound quality, pulse elite takes it all day for the type of drivers they have and option to EQ without any problems

I know these are not in the same category but if you want incredible headphones for fps games check out AKG K712 pro's. I use them either wired or with a bluetooth DAC and they're just insane with imaging (I also love the soundstage).

What problems have you had with the Maxwells? I'm about to buy them and I want to choose well.
@Gubers2 ай бұрын
@@XxKentokixX First issue was the swivel joint came undone on one side. Manufacturing technique was such that I couldn’t get it back on myself. RMA’d and they sent me new Maxwell’s. Those lasted 11 months and the left driver started going out. RMA’d and they sent me a new pair again. Just got them back a few days ago. So far so good. It’s hard to recommend or sway people against purchasing the Maxwells. They are very solid, sound great and the customer service is top notch. I RMA’d my last pair out of official warranty and they didn’t even bat an eye over it. So, I dunno. If you want the best sound and you care more about customer service than anything else I’d say go for it.
@NotGStacks11 ай бұрын
People dont talk about how god awful quality control is on Maxwell's. I was drooling over them for the total of 2 days my pair was functional. Save your time and money and buy another headset. It's so upsetting because the maxwell's were one of the best sounding headsets I've ever owned. I've owned headsets from budget range to the $2,000 range. Unless you can get a risk free warranty to cover your maxwells do not get them. The pulse elite sound like a great deal at its price point as well!

I had the maxwells for one day the weight was unbearable. Also the app doesn’t work properly you can’t eq the headphones whilst playing a game which is useless as you need to see what eq works. They’re very fatiguing . I have steel series articis 7p and think they’re better . However music on the maxwells was superb but far too uncomfortable especially for someone with glasses.
@rasmus797411 ай бұрын
Totally agree. I returned my Maxwells because anything >20% sidetone was creating a really distinct buzzing/white noise if no other sound was playing. (And if you used Sidetone without the external mic and took of the headset at an angle, they screamed a really unpleasant high pitched sound. Seemed almost dangerous for your hearing. The Audeze windows app worked the first time. After that I had to unplug/plug the dongle in every time to get a connection with the app. And everyone saying they're comfortable and have no clamp force? It was exhausting after one hour, and the ear pads were like a sauna. And this is not even considering the weight (which I didn't mind). Thx for sharing. I'm considering the Arctis Nova Pro, and your comment seem to verify I'm on the right track.
