I love this. Our CREC engines are dying because of poor crankcase venting. The crankcase is only venting from one bank, instead of 2 banks like the earlier engines. I am looking to get this relocation kit and top cover for the second bank with an outlet for ventilation for bank 2. I am curious if the ECU will throw errors for pcv. We also have a n54 valve on our engines, so that might be a doozle. Kindly reach out so I see if we can work together on fixing the oil consumption issue on the CREC engine

What’s the new crankcase vacuum measurement with this external PCV? B8 S4 ones are either 30 or 150 mbar depending on PCV revision and ECU updates. This is important info missing from this video.
@swankperfection Жыл бұрын
Also, FYI, on the new external PCV, you could use the OEM vent tube ends that clip in place on one side as that’s what it’s designed to take and on the other side, it would be nice if Merc would make a new aluminum female to barb hose adapter that accepts the the bottom port of the PCV to be inserted in at an angle. That port has a ring seal around it and also is keyed to go into a factory port like that. Would make for a super clean install and OEM finish without all the junky JB Weld DIY stuff and zero modification of the PCV should you ever want or need to swap that out entirely rather than just the guts. It’s definitely something to seriously consider to make the install clean as hell. 👍

Excellent video as usual from you, only one thing that is confusing me! You have replaced the OEM plastic PCV with an aluminium one from an older model car and installed a separate relocated PCV, but you also put a PCV valve back into the new aluminium housing under the super charger. Why fit 2x PCV’s, and couldn’t this still go bad meaning you have to pull the super charger back out in the future?
@AudiC7Owners Жыл бұрын
The Metal Valley Pan under the supercharger is just that. There is no pcv in it. The plastic piece that is on it is an oil separator (think oem catch can). These rarely have any failures. The only pcv is the relocated one 🤘🏻 Thank you for the kind words!

Yeah that was what i was thinking of too. Why not just remove n bypass the Stock Oil Separator and direct to a Catch can from the Crankcase Inlet/outpipe?

I love the content and direction here (fantastic videos), but I'm struggling with MercRacing at the moment, I ordered the kit on June 4th along with everything else on your list to relocate my PCV system and upgrade to the 3.2 manifold (also doing intercooler bricks while the supercharger is off), I have the catch can installed in my S4 and have located the spot for the diaphragm breather, and have it all ready with the connection JB Welded and black taped into place (the links were extremely helpful). I've watched all the videos, and ordered and received all the gaskets and O rings for everything, and feel fairly confident I can do this. I emailed Merc Racing asking for tracking info, as the order email still read "processing" and also the very first thing I ordered. The package came today (6/17), but is was missing the throttle body spacer gaskets and the longer bolts for use with the stock throttle body... so another contact email sent through their sight. I'm going to rewatch everything this week to make sure I have the process fresh in my head, hopefully I'll be able to start next weekend. I had hoped to have it complete by now.

I seem to have had a failure of some sort with the relocated PCV. I emptied my catch can today and found it full of the forbidden chocolate milk. Quick question here. I’ve got a coolant leak I can’t narrow down quite yet. I pressured my coolant system to check for leaks and it dropped real quick but no visible signs of leaking. All my research so far leads me to believe it’s pooling under the supercharger where the coolant return pipe is. I’ve seen a lot of people saying to check there first but I’m apprehensive to take the supercharger off if there are some parts known to break. Any advice on what I should get before taking the supercharger off and anything else that would be a good idea to replace while under there? I have a soft code for PCV and I’m thinking breather hose and/or the diaphragm but I’m not sure how easy those are to replace while under there. Thanks in advance!
@AudiC7Owners Жыл бұрын
If you are pressurizing the system & song coolant without seeing anything leak then your pcv is likely cracked & you free mixing coolant into your engine oil. Drain your oil & check it. Having a pcv code means you're pcv diaphragm is shot anyways so you need to address all of this quickly

They are very reliable. Just make sure basic engine maintenance was kept up on (oil changes) & transmission services are completed.

I’m throwing a PCV code on my 3.0 c7.5 Has if been tested for us yet? If so I’m ready
@tb37806 ай бұрын
This kit does NOT work on a C7.5. We have dual port injection (as opposed to direct injection) and a very different PCV. You can use this video to help you DIY replace your PCV, as well as the one by FCPEuro, but don't buy these parts expecting to put a catch can on your C7.5 (or C8.5).
@AudiC7Owners6 ай бұрын
It actually does work, but you have to modify the plastic oil separator that attaches to the metal valley pan to fit correctly. We have had multiple CREC vehicles do the relocation.

How much pressure is under the supercharger for the plug underneath? Could you use a rubber freeze plug (the type that tightens with an internal bolt)? How about a hard metal freeze plug inserted? Seems like any of these DIY options would eliminate the need for a special part only available at one or two places. Thoughts?
@AudiC7Owners Жыл бұрын
Just buy the mercracing plug. It's extremely affordable for piece of mind. I will never recommend a plumbing plug for something like this. If you choose to go that route, do so at your own risk

Why couldn't Audi do this? Oh wait... then the Audi dealers couldn't charge $2,500 to do a PCV replacement AND a bunch of extras. Also you said the whistle is normal on the diaphragm, but isn't that one of the symptoms of a bad diaphragm? I had a whistle on mine, but not high pitched like the videos I've seen, but more noticeable on defrost. I was hoping it was not something in the vents b/c not much I can do to fix that. Will see is the PCV body replacement fixed it or will it be a "phantom" whistle I have to deal with for the life of the car. That will be frustrating if so.
@AudiC7Owners7 ай бұрын
Turns out that sound was bc my diaphragm in the housing wasn't perfectly seated. I reset it & it went away.

Don't make my mistake... I bought all these parts and took apart my 2016 A7, only to realize this kit only applies to C7 not C7.5. Our facelifted models use dual port injection and are not compatible with this earlier vintage valley pan conversion. Wasted a lot of time. Made the best of it by replacing PCV, water pump and thermo, while I was in there.

1) this is the first line of the description of the relocation parts kit on Mercracing's website: "**CREC & C6 A6 ENGINE COMPATIBILITY UNKNOWN**" 2) having pointed that out, we have had Multiple people with the crec engine complete the relocation. You have to modify the plastic oil separator that attaches to the metal valley pan to fit. There is an entire post about this on the relocation Facebook group for anyone interested.

Isn't it funny how it takes us normal people to fix Audi's over engineering on some of these things? It's like this PC v. And the thermostat and the water pump should all be located on the top. Front or outside, easy, can't speak. As we know, they're gonna fail every single time, maybe even multiple times

The thermostat isn't a fun job, but the water pump is fairly easy to do. Don't even have to remove the supercharger
