@DaTT784 жыл бұрын
I have a 2014 S5 as well and had it done at the dealership for about $1400. If you play your cards right with Audi, about 85% was covered under an extended warranty. Done at around 85,000km
@audis55124 жыл бұрын
@@DaTT78 I could be wrong and correct me if I am but the Audi coverage I think you're referring to is a different carbon cleaning and has to do with the secondary air injection system which does not include the intake valve cleaning. I believe in order for Audi to cover this, you must get a "hard fault" which triggers the check engine light and 2 codes must be present upon diagnosis, this requires bumper to be in service position to get to the two ports...very common issue and coverage I believe is 10 years or 120,000 miles whichever occurs first Also don't bring to Audi for this unless you have the coverage...$1400 is far too much for a simple walnut blast/chemical cleaning....you should be able to find a good indy shop to do it for about half that and if you're hands on just DIY and save more of your hard earned $$$ 🤙
@DaTT784 жыл бұрын
@@audis5512 Yes, you are correct, it was the secondary air injection system cleaning...I thought it was tied to the same thing. I was throwing only 1 code, but the mechanic made it show both for coverage. Also,, the $1400 is Canadian dollars. If the intake is a different cleaning, maybe I will look into getting this done as I have 140,000 KM's
@audis55124 жыл бұрын
@@DaTT78 I thought so, I'm in Canada as well, more specifically Toronto area and all the top Audi indy shops are in the $700 range for the cleaning, some shops use walnut shells and others use chemicals. If you haven't had that one done yet it would probably be worth looking into as a preventive measure! If you're in this area I can give you the name of one Also worth noting: the cleaning itself should be in the 700 range but keep in mind that the injector seals, upper and lower manifold gaskets, oil change (due to possible contamination) should be done in the process and if you have not yet done thermostat, PCV, water pump, supercharger oil especially at your mileage it really should be done, especially if you are planning to keep the car for awhile!

Ah yes Audi AG (as well as other DI engine manufacturers). The dealer did my 2.0T A4 valves at 70 KM under warranty. Then did them myself again at 135KM before any codes (Pictures to prove!). Along with the timing chain tensioner, chains, guides, balance shafts, etc as preventative "service". Honestly if you're adverse to high dollar dealer maintenance or if you don't trade your car in every 4 years you might want to avoid these cars. They are definitely not buy and forget. Don't get me wrong I still love my 2012 A4 - 6 speed manual, 220 hp, awd - what's not to like - except for perhaps a little bit less "maintenance". And yes I would probably buy again - If I could get a low mileage manual when I retire. They drive like nothing else. Period.

Can anyone confirm that North America did not get the revised 3.0T engine model CREC? Over here in Europe the 3.0T Supercharged engine was replaced by a new generation engine supercharged engine? One of those revisions being low pressure fuel injectors sat in the inlets in the old school way. This would alleviate this carbon build up on the intake valves! The later gen CREC engine had 12 injectors! 6 DI high pressure injectors and 6 inlet low pressure injectors. Plus many more upgrades.

@fcpeuro4 жыл бұрын
The simple lack of fuel passing thru the valves in all direct injected engines is what causes the buildup of carbon. An oil catch can and slow the process but not prevent it. Methanol injection, however, will help keep the valves clean.
