Nicely done buddy. You won't find any wires that thick under the dash any more . My truck dosent use an ignition key switch any more , no more keys , I'd be lost LOL

@@zx8401ztv Yes absolutely but the roar of a mclaren 720 depends on computers and the magic of wireless technology, plus it's British 👍

Cheers buddy, the Steve Rob sponsored Power Probe made all the difference to an easy diag 😎 Not even a chip in the key of that car anf you even need to use the key to unlock the doors like a caveman 😂😂

It proved a lot more straightforward than I imagined: no doubt the diagnosis took a bit longer. I must have been a satisfying fix.

When I first realised there was a problem and all the fuses were ok, I thought it was going to be a bit of a nightmare. Once I figured out everything that wasn't working it led straight to the ignition switch so was actually an easy diag! Cheers

Your ignition switch is still in "run" mode so all acc parts are turned off via load relay. I'm surprised your starter motor wasn't banging around too. Normally the key is stiff and doesn't spring back after "run"

I was going to say 'Are you going to take it apart for curiousity' i've always taken dead stuff apart. It's good to see how it works or don't lol. Dam rain.

I was getting there once I was in from the rain! Interesting to see how burnt up the contact was. Cheers

I was hoping you'd open it up. I'm sure it was a contact issue. Nice repair

The contacts looked pretty burnt up. At least a replacement was cheap and not too painful to replace. Cheers

It looked as if the new switch works with your "old" key. If that's so, I guess it means that the new switch is universal, and will thus work with the keys from any other Audi 80/90 [and I guess many other vehicles]. That seems strange. Does it mean that I can bring the key from my Audi and use it in your car now?
@Badgertronix2 жыл бұрын
the switch is separate to the lock, so yes it fits many cars. You still need the matching lock and key to be able to operate the switch.

Did the fuel pump work, as this is a keyed operation?
@Badgertronix2 жыл бұрын
There is a separate switched circuit for engine operation. Car started and ran fine, just didn't have all the lights, indicators and other electrics.
