i bought the 1.6 TDI. It has 116hp 250nm of Torque, really nimble and i guess the fastest 1.6 diesel on the market at the moment. Downsized from A3 Sedan (2015) and loved it even more.

+emrebozkurt800 ECU tune it to 140-150hp, well worth it. I know 'cause I'm driving one too :)

***** Well, depends on the engine. However, you can remap even 1.2 TFSI (to 120+ hp), so yeah, they are fast. Get yourself 1.6 TDI or 1.4 TFSI, those are the best engines in the range for city driving, reasonably fast with great km/l. Mine is a 1.6 TDI, tuned to 145 hp. Great car overall, I am very happy with it.

The only negative is the hard ride. However, put it into dynamic mode and the 148bhp engine comes into it’s own, it flies past others on dual carriageways, really takes you by surprise for such a small car. I get about 55mpg average. Love my A1.

The flat bottomed steering wheel isn't standard on the S-line either.

Excuse me, the new 2015 1.6TDI 115Hp diesel engine, is certainly not noisy, and compared to the older engine, is extremely refined. It pushes this gorgeous Audi A1, into the tax exempt bracket, and if driven very carefully, a genuine 80mpg can be achieved, but in normal everyday driving, expect around 64mpg. Ive alway's been a diesel fan , so i suppose i am a little biased, but my May 2015 TDI Sport is refined, very quiet indeed in the cabin, and whilst using cruise control over a long motorway journey, have seen 84.7mpg on the trip computer. With a car as comfortable as the A1, a diesel under the bonnet makes more sense, and will be easier to sell on, when its time to say goodbuy.

I wish we got this car in the U.S., although this looks a little too close to a FIAT 500, a very girly look. But I _really_ wish BMW made one of these, basically a hot hatch. A BMW "GTI" would be sick! The X1 comes really close, and is actually the perfect city car for me, but I wish there was a Beemer version like this!

No, not in the U.S. - No more 1 Series, plus, we _never_ had it as a hatchback here, just a coupe.

It's true, that Americans very often drive cars that are ridiculously big, and get terrible MPG. It bums me out. The country itself is HUGE, though, so there _are_ differences, like in a lot of cities, people very often drive smaller cars. Out in the more spacious suburbs you see more of the huge Tahoes and Expeditions. I will probably actually be getting the Discovery Sport, but I will be getting it with the far more efficient Diesel engine.

That new BMW M2 is *sick,* though!

How much is it to insure this car?
@AutoTraderTV9 жыл бұрын
+Nadia K It would depend on how old you are, if you have any driving penalties and where you live and keep the car i.e on road or on a drive way etc.
Me and my 3 sisters (I'm a boy) are all looking for cars and we all need to get the same model as it would be better for are insurance or whatever and we're looking at the Audi a1 and the bmw 1 series... Any opinions on what would be better for just every day driving but also comfort and look Cheers

A1 by far. The drive is super smooth and in my opinion, just looks like a better put together car compared to the bmw.

Be aware that this is a Skoda Fabia / Seat Ibiza / VW Polo in a posh frock, with matching posh costs over it's sisters. It's the image of quality you say, Owners of the afore said vehicles will look at you as more money than sense club, owners of larger 4 ring cars will look at you as a cheapskate... Live with that thought. I worked at a VW audi dealers and have seen it.
@vitruvianmind35708 жыл бұрын
Your talking nonsense, having been within the fabrication engineering sector for Audi personally and having dealt with the designers of the A1 nothing is cheaper when it came to the implementation of putting together a Audi. Why should buyers of the A1 be seen as cheapskates ? Just because they don't have the need for a larger vehicle and personally do not wish to purchase one ? Due to you working within the car dealership sector gives you no further credibility than anyone else. Spend time in Ingolstadt, Bavaria and work with me for a weeks shift then reassess your statement that the A1 is a cheapskate vehicle.
@russcattell955i8 жыл бұрын
Vitruvian Mind Oh, I do not think it is a cheapskate car, what I implied was the big car snobs will think so. The engineering is the same high standard through all 4 brands.

Russ Cattell But I bought one as a run around car, not my main car, so how am I a “cheapskate”. A run around car is supposed to be small, I don’t want it to be the same size as my cayenne, do I. That statement is utter nonsense, it does what it says on the tin, it is a small city car nothing more, and I certainly will not be seen in a fucking Skoda, ever.
