Car prices are wild. In 2015 I got the 1.4TSFi brand new and added the sunroof and xenon lights it didn't even go beyond 350k. These new prices are insane.😮

In September last year, I bought one, I have the similar spec without the sunroof. The positives: 1. The screen with wireless car play is really good. 2. The fuel consumption, I drive in comfort 70km a day in mixed highway and city driving in fourways and kempton park, and my average fuel consumption is 5.6 liters per 100km and I get a fuel range of 780km. On the wide open road to KZN I got 950km on a full tank. 3. The road holding and quietness, this really impressed me, I used to have a Suzuki Baleno, and its just not the same idea at all, and I know this Audi is over double the price, but for me you can see where that money was used. 4. The gearbox, this is the 8spd torque converter, this will be more reliable than any of the DSG or S tronic gear boxes, so it will not have the same issues as they used to have. The negatives: 1. After sales service and support, this is no comparison to Suzuki, you get almost no feedback from the dealer and it is just a mess! 2. Add ons and extras, I recently added in rubber mats, that was unnecessarily over priced. 3.The gearbox, while it is a positive, there is also a negative, the electronic switch on mine and the control module failed, apparently due to water damage, the dealer did resolve this, however that is only because the issue was picked up within days of purchase, this repair is not covered under the warranty and you can expect to spend almost 100k on this issue. Overall I think it was a great purchase, I just wished the customer service and buying experience was better.

DSG was a problem with old models, from 2017 onwards it tends to last longer. Correction: Basic model don't have LED lights. This is an Urban Edition.

People that own Audi's tend to forget that it's imperative to service the S-Tronic gearbox on every 60 000km interval. Changing the gearbox oil and filters will save you in the long run. It's even stated on the owners manual. However who uses the owners manual anyway😅

I had a privilege to drive this A3 sedan 2024 model @2000KM, I can say it's not that slow but the steering is kinda stiff. I was impressed with A4 40TFSI it's very aggressive but the steering is stiff and above 140 is worse worse.

Thanks for your honesty, Muzi. We really need that perspective in these times. It's all about getting value for money, but German brands are becoming outrageously expensive. Personally, I think paying that much for an A3 isn't worth it. I'd rather invest in a used bakkie, or even go for one of the newer Chinese brands offering great value for the same price or a used Golf GTI for a lesser price.

People often complain that German cars are so expensive, questioning why we pay more for far less compared to Chinese cars or those from elsewhere. It makes no sense for them to price these cars cheaper specifically for markets like South Africa. Also, keep in mind that whether you're buying a German car in the US, Germany, or Australia, the price will always be almost the same or similar, just in different currencies. It might be higher due to taxes and other costs, but it’s not like McDonald’s, where prices vary significantly by region. For us, these cars are expensive, but for them, they’re much more affordable. For example, an average teacher in Germany can easily afford a brand-new, fully specced-out BMW, Mercedes, or Audi without any issues. In contrast, that’s not the case with Chinese cars. Labor costs in China are much lower, and their car manufacturers often benefit from government subsidies. That’s how they can sell cars and SUVs for under R500,000 with excellent build quality and value. So, I hope you understand why this is the case. German, European, and even American car prices aren’t coming down anytime soon; in fact, they’ll likely keep increasing. Unless we establish our own car brands and manufacture vehicles locally, or move to highly developed, prosperous nations like the US, Canada, EU, Australia, Japan, or New Zealand, where affording these cars is much easier on an average salary, the situation won’t change.

If it makes you feel any better, owning property in South Africa is much more affordable compared to many developed countries. Here, with a good job, you don’t need to be a business owner or an executive to own a house. In most of these developed countries, home ownership isn’t as common-it's often comparable to Cape Town in terms of affordability challenges. So, it’s not like everything is worse here. At least we have good food and relatively affordable housing. The main downsides are the high costs of cars, iPhones, and other luxuries.

Nice video. Honestly there is nothing wrong with the pricing of these LUXURY cars, vehicles on this segment are well priced for what they are. Fancy brands. You don't purchase this car because its prectical or sensible 😅 Beemer, Merc and Audi are status symbols. I dont think many South African's understand that. (The cars are not quality because thier expensive) no they expenseive bcoz they look good and they have fancier features than your average Japanese cars. The most unreliable brands on the market Luxury cars - but hey we buy them because thier comfortable and they look good. 😊
