audi allroad A6 tiptronic front end vibration fix 5HP19FLA

after fixing my cv axles, I still had a front end vibration at 55-65 mph and when accelerating. this is what I found that finally fixed my car!
the needle bearing for the passenger side can be found at:

the driver side assembly can be found used on ebay for around $40-50

My bearing had the same back and forth move. I bought a new one and it has almost the same slope as an old one. Some people say, it is normal for this right side flange.

A very small amount is one thing, but not much. After replacing, I reduced the back and forth play by more than half.

This was a very helpful video and I finally managed to get that damn old bearing cut out. New one went in fairly straightforward. Unfortunately this did not solve my noise issue. Noise turning either way, frequency is speed dependent. Going to change and fill differential fluids with synthetic 75W-90 gear oil as next step. The front did seem a bit low (not even dribbling out when pulling the seal, definitely below the fill plug).

I am having this issue with my 2017 VW Jetta TSI. I just installed new CV axles due to a clicking sound and steering wheel vibration. No more clicking sounds and the car feels better, however I am still getting the vibration. I already balanced and rotated new tires, it is frustrating the heck outta me. I am on my 3rd VW never had this issue. Audi is VW so I am wondering if this is what my situation is? Thanks for your video. Have you checked the wheel bearing? That is more likely to go. Is it on the short shaft or shaft extension side?

Iv got a Allroad 2013 a4. Iv only had it like 4 months but i noticed the slight shimmer and the sound it makes just does not seem right. So far the dealership took it for a ride couldnt simulate it. But I still think its something. Its more around 40mph. Its on the passenger side. I wonder if this is it? Thank you!

Also make sure to check little things Like your tires, alignment, and even the roads. If you notice it at 40mph, but it happens to be on the same road you drive all the time, it may just be a crappy road.

Hi there, I am chasing a vibration, its driving me insane, replaced all 4 tires, entire front suspension, balanced the tires, balanced them again... tried other tires, but still, no different. I can "sense" the vibration begins at about 40mph but its noticeable through the steering wheel and through the floor at about ~70-80mph. Worse when off-throttle. Does that sound like the issue you had? No typical bearing noise at all. Vibration is definitely wheel speed...

Hi, very interesting video. I have similar subtle vibrations on my A6 C6 manual gearbox. The case is they are not constant, they disappear sometimes without any reason and then appears again. Doesn't matter if I accelerate or drive constant speed. Did You experienced the same?

Sounds more like a CV axle. It's very common for the CV axles to get worn out. Check them for play and replace if needed. Don't skimp on the price, cheap rebuilt axles tend to vibrate right out of the box. Also check your rear driveshaft for the carrier barring, that's another common fault. Once you have the CV's out, you can check the output flanges for play.

Remove the bolts on the output flange and see if it's the diff/trans for CV's. It's an easy job to remove them, just need the triple square sockets or hex bits depending on year.

Hey Jim! Did this end up fixing your car? I am in desperate need of a proper diagnosis. I have a recently acquired 2012 Audi Q5 with a persistent but very very subtle vibration and its driving me nuts. Ive been to almost 14 mechanics for a proper diagnosis including an Audi dealership and a european car specialist. Ive been to drivetrain specialist and Transmission specialist and have been told by at everyone at least one thing from warped rotors and pad, cv axles, tie rods inner and outer, rack and pinion bushings, control arm bushings, torque convertor and drivetrain issue or Ujoint and balancers being off. Its a vibration I can feel as low as 40 km per hour and no limit at top speed. I can be going 140km per hour and still feel it. It used to be more visual in steering wheel both in acceleration and then also braking, I slight shimmy noticeable by looking but now thats seems almost gone yet the "buzz" or feedback in the steering wheel and entire car for that matter is worse and Im getting really mad and impatient with this car. Do your repairs apply to my chassis/platform? Were your vibrations subtle and at times almost not visually noticeable but still felt?

City Lumberjack it was one of many things that ended up being bad. The list includes: Driveshaft Transmission mounts Motor mounts And tire pressure. 5psi can cause vibration.

Thanks for the quick reply bro. Yeah I've never changed a driveshaft on my own but no time like the present. I watched another video on that. I'm still learning in term of the components of suspension and steering but I will probably start with the rear rotors and pads. Then move onto control arms as there is slight cracking and play in front lower rearward and frontward on both sides. Just curious if your vibration were really subtle or big shake of steering wheel? Could your vibrations be felt through the entire car like on your seat and on the dashboard. My steering wheel is almost unnoticeable but the "buzz" in the car as I call it, is there. All mechanics who have looked at it say they notice it, but they don't wanna touch it because they don't know where to start and they all know I'm on a tight budget. I would rather buy the parts online and do the repairs myself, but I'm not so good at diagnosing and don't want to throw parts at the car as you have mentioned. Although though thats what you ended doing I suppose...

Iv had my audi for four months and Im afraid this is going to be what Im going to go through. Its usually around 40 i feel it the most and just the sound of something being slightly off balance when slowing and accerlerating. Shop today said they couldnt replicate it. Im no expert but Iv always been spot on about what i think is going on. I hear audi are notorious for issues like this.

Got mine cheap enough I don't really care as long as I get a couple of years out of it. But yeah, just wanted to say fucking dope video. And the freezer trick, people look at me like I'm nuts, but it does give you the that extra .5% to play with so you don't land up needing a press for replacing bushes etc (I also drop the 'bush holder' arm or whatever in boiling water, lube the bush in wd40, and move quickly)

It fixed "one of my vibrations." The most common issue is the CV axles. Even if you replace them, you have to buy quality ones, or they will just keep shaking. The rear driveshaft can also be an issue if the intermediate bearing goes. The hard part is figuring out the problem.

@@branman65 I had a vibrating coming from what felt like the front center of the vehicle. It translated somewhat to the wheels, but more in the footwell.

@@NOTSOSLIMJIM that’s what I’m getting. It can be somewhat violent feeling at times and other times the car is smooth as could be. The times it doesn’t vibrate is a lot lower than when it does.

There is a fill in the passenger side behind the halfshaft. Drain the the bottom, fill in the fill hole till it starts coming out.
