Even better I have a model Y and the latest software update allows you to customize “driving sound” as well as some preloaded effects as well. It’s called boombox I’ve downloaded variants sounds like the millennium falcon or Star Trek warp engine sounds.

This is a safety feature for pedestrians who may not notice a whisper-quiet EV approaching. All GM EVs and hybrids have a similar sound. However I have not noticed such a sound coming from Teslas.

Someone in my area has this car with that sound and first time I heard it as they accelerated past me (my street has an incline) it freaked me out as it was so different than anything I've heard before, especially as the sound continues to gradually rise as the car accelerates - it really does sound like a sci-fi vehicle from the movies! There are a few Teslas in my neighbourhood but they don't emit any unique sounds. I thought I was imagining it until I heard the car pass by again today, and now further confirmed it with your video. Thanks for sharing so I can show my wife I'm not going crazy lol

I really like it. The silence of an electric engine offers l lot ideas for cool sounds. I'm a petrol head and had different 8- and 6 cylinders in the last 20 years but the future is electric. So it is good to hear that the engineers find ways to make the cars attractive. Love it.

Al Bundy for people who don’t have time to charge up their car, hydrogen fuel is an alternative, created by electricity and when used to power the car, is converted to water. Car is filled up just like how petrol (gasoline) cars do now. Either way they’ll have electric motors. Cant use petrol/gasoline forever, it will run out and also contributes to global warming. Future is electric

For custom sound effects you load your sounds on a USB drive (I believe you can load up to 4), You go to the menu on the Boombox section (toy box) then you can click play custom sounds there's a drop down menu and your custom sound effects should appear there. You can also do this with the horn sounds as well.

It's kind of interesting that perhaps soon in the future they'll hire sound effects specialists just to get their own unique sound, and with that perhaps each company will have a specific artist that will solely identify with that company.
