Audi fuel pressure issue fix!

2008 Audi a4 quattro 2.0 tfsi
This is a fix for low fuel pressure issues.
Very common in these cars.
Sometimes caused by a bad cam follower, high pressure pump amongst other things.
I see a lot of people with the same issue as I had of intermittent issue that wasnt resolved from replacing all the usual suspects.
I suggest changing out the relay for the updated 644 relay before anything else.
I hope this helps someone.
I spent months changing parts and researching but not a single mention of a bad fuel pump relay.

MY MAIN SYMPTOMS - THIS FIX EVERYTHING - I have a 2008 Audi A4 B7 - my main symptom, and it seems just happened randomly - and no matter how many people I told, no one believe me, most of the time when I went to the Publix supermarket (my theory was they had a different type of asphalt that retain more heat under the car. Lol). But the car would not start sometimes, but when it did start the EPC light was on, and it would run terrible and conk out. A lot of nose starts to but the EPC light was the big tell. He even went to the mechanic my family had used for years and years and he couldn’t figure it out, until I came across one blurb of an obscure post in one of the Audi forums that stated the fuel pump relays underneath the ECU. I wasn’t even sure really what they did or which one, so I replace both of the 614 release of the time and upgraded to the 644 ones. I can’t tell you how many other parts I went through, including tons of different sensors, and it got to the point that Alexa knew about every two or three weeks it was time to order a new ignition coil - oddly changing out number one since it had an issue about a year before, seem to temper early help, but it had absolutely nothing to do with it. My mechanic and his son I’ve been working on our cars in his shop for 20 years the time, they were both stumped and could not figure out what it was. But like someone else just posted on here, a lot of money on ignition coils and sensors, and I think it is about $25 per really. Not too difficult to get out, other one was the one furthest from the wheel well but I’m I’m sorry replacing it so it didn’t matter if it was damaged. But you hear of quite a few people making a mistake that they visually inspected the relation said they were OK, which can’t tell internally if it’s OK just by looking at it. Great video! And I too hope it helps a lot of people out of anybody that’s going through it and done it, we’re currently is, it’s frustrating as hell can you feel like you’re running out of ideas. This is it. Never opened the ECU black box before - could not have been easier - and anything that shows taking off the driver side windshield wiper to get it the last text crew, is absolutely correct and so much easier. I would try to start the car so many times and it was running really rough for how to turn off and start again, that I even burn through probably two batteries over the course of several months. It would seem to randomly just happen but time and time again it would happen in a Publix parking lot I sh*t you not. I figured honestly they had to have a different type of asphalt that retains a lot of heat and that he is affecting something underneath my car’s radiator up… yeah it got that crazy bro.

Went down the same "rabbit hole", and then I saw your video. I wish I had seen it first, luckily I was able to get parts at a discount so I'm only down $300. But spent a few afternoons swapping out perfectly good parts. The good news it worked and wifey is now happy.

Hi mate, please respond if you see this. I have a p0193 code from time to time and more often at high rpm. I never get a check engine light , only if i use an obd scanner do i see the code. Car sometimes completly loses all power. Like literally the engine dies for a split second and continues like normal. Its an A3 8p with the same engine. Do you have any suggestions? Ill try to find those 644 relays in the meanwhile. Btw replaced wiring , sensors , lpfp, fp relay

Is it about he rough Idle? I´ve changed plugs, coils, vacuum valve and hoses and orings in the pump. I'm thinking PVC piping and or timing chain with accessories(owner claimed it's served but probably not). Would be very greatful for tips.

Pvc valve will create a rough idle and common to fail

I ha e same issue. I replaced g247 sensor but no changes and I have no power under load and the engine shakes in tje hiway . Doy ouy have lean condition? Last time I have p0300 and 1,2,3,4 codes ramdomly with misfires. I jope that this is the problem.

Hey Did you have a P2293 fault code for low fuel pressure? I have a 2008 A4 and have tried the sensor on the rail and changed the cam follower and a new mechanical high pressure fuel pump. Also car has 200,000 miles

Yes i had all the low fuel pressure codes. I would try the relays, or the fuel filter.

You need to remove the wipers and the cowl panel

Remove the windscreen wipers and pull up on the plastic above the T30 screws at the back then you have plenty of room to work in there.

I have an 09-12 A4 2.0t Quattro, I would randomly just get fuel pressure low, turn off engine but would drive fine and when I park, shut off and start again it doesn’t pop back up. And sometimes when I’m on the highway it’ll say don’t exceed past 4000 rpm but would still drive fine. Think it’s sensors or the relay?

Hey, so I’m having an issue with an Audi A4 2.0t 2013. It starts off fine and then about a minute later the pressure drops but that’s it. The car continues to run and once I put my foot on the gas the oil light goes away for a bit. Once I stop or I’m driving at a slow speed I get the low oil pressure light again. Any chance this can be caused by those relays?

Unfortunately no. Those relays have nothing to do with oil pressure. That is an issue with your engines internals. Sorry

I believe they have the same style common rail fuel system. Its a cheap part to replace so you may as well try it

P0089 (1) P2293 (2) fuel pressure, regulator performance. Reset codes and it drives fine now. Before shifting was choppy and no turbo. It was somewhat dangerous to drive and couldn’t get out of it’s own way. The Audi parts guy needed a part number and not 614 or 644. I just purchased a $20 scanner with a small display and next time I have an engine code I’ll just scan it again and reset as needed. As I recall, there is relays have five posts and I’m wondering what the additional postage for. Maybe the Haynes Manual wiring diagram will help out Note: the engine codes (above) occur again by letting the car idle for a few minutes that starts to run rough and then it dies and then it’s hard to start for about 30 minutes and then it starts up as if nothing happened.

@@tomrummel8985 …. For the last few months, my Audi A4 has had a few problems although I didn’t find a fix for the P 89 code I managed to keep the car running without fixing the P0089 question. The one thing that I think the P 89 code is caused by is an overheating of the relay when I idle a car for more than a few minutes. Then it throws the P00899 code which I reset easily with a $20 scan tool. It might be something else, but the reset thankfully always works and the car runs great again. So what I do need to do is takeoff, the windshield wiper shields the moving parts in the motor of the windshield wiper. This gets to the a CU or whatever you wanna call it and that gets physically lift up a few inches and where they are a pair of relays. Neither the Audi dealer or the VW dealer could help finding the correct part without me physically pulling in the ribeye and looking what the part number is. So there you go a living without fixing the pain 89 also P 2293 but it’s best to fix it. My gas mileage is very good for a car with 160 K on it as well as high oil consumption is very good. Good luck.
