What kind of Torsten system does 4L generation Audi Q7 have? Anyway, I love how it drives in the winter with proper winter tires. It’s way fun with controlled rear end slide under full power. I don’t think my 2013 has too many electronic gizmos in the system.
@4x4.tests.on.rollers2 жыл бұрын
Torsen C with 42/58 FR torque split. Unlike other torsen quattro systems, the one in Q7 has separate transfer case so it's not that nose heavy.

I love Audi but I live in Alaska where owning one of these would be a terrible idea. Boulders and 18-in potholes that routinely frequently cluster in your path in an ever-changing changing landscape, that can also feature up to a foot of water regularly driven through, without any kind of underbody protection or electronics that are insulated, they're just not practical here, furthermore there's no way to work on them if something breaks down anywhere out here, very sad.

Torsen center diff. If you have the Quattro Ultra, there is an additional claw coupling which disengages the rear wheels under normal conditions to save fuel.

Flat4Fan I just had my haldex and rear diff replaced on my S3 it’s still in the shop. From what I know now I’m paying $2200 out of pocket with my deductible included. This was due to a discrepancy between the warranty and repair shop pricing. I want the work done at the dealership for peace of mind. My warranty company wanted to provide a used diff but the dealership refused to put in a used one. I would feel better if all parts were new so I went with the dealership. The kicker is the first repair shop I went to was a joke. The mechanic tried to give me advice on how my key ring had too many things on it and how that was bad for my car?? Then I let him know “hey it’s push to start”. Red flags everywhere! So I decided to pay the premiums for a nice 2020 Q5 loaner vehicle and a clean OEM repair for my 15 S3.

Actually it's pretty confusing, but the best I can tell from Audi web site the S4, for example, has the full time AWD I believe, were as the A4 has two versions 1 ultra and 1 non ultra, The ultra having less power, pretty sure it has the decoupling rear end, but not sure on the non ultra. From drivers perspective I definitely prefer the crown gear over trying to save fuel. I am betting the RS3 has crown gear as well.

RS3 has engine transversely, so Haldex based AWD with 100/0 front rear distribution up to 50/50 only.

And now invent something that can disturb power from left to right because Quattro is the worst system that does(n’t) that. Maybe Subaru wil teach you a thing or 2.
@papercut19873 жыл бұрын
Well, suby doesn't do that either. STi's DCCD is a more adjustable centre-diff with front and rear LSD. As of I know, only Mitsubishi's S-AWC and Acura's SH-AWD push power left and right. There might be more system that does it.
@HardwareG33k3 жыл бұрын
@@papercut1987 all LSD's distribute torque left and right depending on traction. Audi has the sport differential for example, which actively regulates this.
@kululv3 жыл бұрын
your comment is totally wrong and uneducated. your subi system is pretty crud and outdated. they realized that too, thats why they upgraded a little DCCD. Welcome to the modern world

won't need all of this on EV lol
@estebanamador76015 ай бұрын
If the EV uses open differential with one motor per axle, it will definitely be beneficial to have some torque transfer between sides, so there should go something that makes this same torque vectoring.
