@@kpcart It's not a waste, probably about a 25% power gain for nothing, and it isn't too expensive to remap a car plus it will make it run more economical saving you money on fuel, I get 50mpg with my bmw 118d putting out 187bhp, it has enough power to overtake, and yeah an m140i would be nice but I think I'll try to get a house instead..

I have been aware of that long time ago, that petrol engines are prehistoric and complicated in its technology...diesel is always and will be superior, all the critic to diesels were based on one main thing which was the turbo bearing combinated with heated oil(search diesel runout LOL. Now best tuning part turbos have ceramic bearing which works without oil!). Things which were caused by the driver alone. Even the first locomotive diesels (century ago?) were based on DIRECT INJECTION! No need of spark plugs! (this is another prehistoric technology. Blue ray disks. Optic sparking would mean TOTAL difference in igniting the mixture and remarkable power increase while decreasing the fuel consumption.)
@mysock351C

@@Strakos0 Go pop the hood of a 6.7L Ford PSD or Late model German diesel and be prepared to have mind blown. They are WAY more complicated due to todays emissions standards. Even DFI gas engines are simple in comparison.
@mysock351C
@mysock351C 6 жыл бұрын
@@Strakos0 Also the "direct injection" of yesteryear was based on simple cam driven mechanical systems. Quite simple, single shot fueling. The newer ones use either electro-mechanical or piezoelectric common-rail injectors that can provide multiple pilot, combustion, and post-combustion pulses for noise and emissions control, not to mention EGR, DPF, DEF injection, etc. Id be hesitant to buy anything after the 2003 MY due to all the extra equipment they have, the heat, and the shorter lifespan they have now. Kind of a shame classics like the old 2-stroke detroits are gone except in locomotives, but that's reality these days with clean air standards.

2010 Kolles fielded 2 Audi R10 in their final year at the Le Mans 24 Hours, on 14 June 2010. Unlike the factory Audi and Peugeot LMP1, the Kolles R10 was not hampered by the new restrictor regulations which should have shaved off 60 bhp from the diesel-powered prototypes. The cars qualified 3:30, just behind the two Lola Astons. Both cars failed to finish because too much strain from torque was put onto the gearbox. Tfw too much torque to handle

In real life, there are 3 to 4 drivers over the entire length of the race so it isn't really that hard for them to compete. But of course the physical demands of the race are still there with all the G's and vibrations and what-nots that they have to endure.
