Audi RS2 | The first hot estate is still the best | Future Classics S3 E2

Audi's collaboration with Porsche that launched the Audi RS2 was the beginning of a legendary line of not only cars to wear the RS badge, but also big-booted executive machines given the ability to humble supercars.
Based on the humble Audi 80, the RS2 was handed a turbocharged 2.2-litre inline five-cylinder engine, quattro four-wheel-drive, 315PS and a six-speed manual. Altogether it might be one of the greatest performance cars in history. We took Becky Evans (‪@BeckyEvans‬ ) along to find out what makes the RS2 just so special.

This has always been a wonderful car. Until perhaps the 2018+ AMG wagons, arguably the best ever wagon.

Owned one for four years. It's the cheapest car I ever owned. I got the same as what I paid for it. Mine had an MTM chpi and RUF rims. I just called it my problem solver, It never failed to put a smile on my face.

The first hot estate is actually the 1988 VOLVO 850 ESTATE TURBO. 7 years before Audi released the RS2. The 850 ESTATE TURBO also has a domineering racing career, something the RS4 also does not have. I'm really very surprised Goodwood would get something this wrong.

This was the first Audi RS car as well, Porsche have always had a hand in VW and Audi in some form or another and visa versa Their DNA is very much intertwined The 5 cylinder in all its forms is a phenomenal power plant and sound like nothing else

There is a guy in a small village in Fife Scotland who has had one of these since the early 2020s dailys it I see it a coupple of times a week when traveling to work cool car

@@maverick4177 Tell me about it bud salt on roads for 4 months out of 12 modern cars not so bad anything from 70s,80s,90s your brushing it up and putting it in a bucket 😂 Galvanised Audis do a wee bit better had a 1997 80 se Avant ran it untill 2008 bodywork was OK ish 👍🏽
