This was the first Audi RS car as well, Porsche have always had a hand in VW and Audi in some form or another and visa versa Their DNA is very much intertwined The 5 cylinder in all its forms is a phenomenal power plant and sound like nothing else

Not so strange, considering the family ties in both camps. It's seen also with the Quattro development.

I used to have an S2 coupe then went on to purchasing one of these in Brilliant Black with the exact same interior as the one in the video. It was a wonderful piece of kit and as I couldn’t afford a Porsche this at the time for me was perfect. It may not be perfect but to me it was and still has a place in my heart. I loved this car and wished I had never sold it when you see today’s prices. Thanks for the video.

I remember back in 2011 seeing an advert for a Nogaro Blue RS2 identical to this one but with a lot more miles for only £12,000 or near offer. I wish I had the money back then as I would have bought it in a heartbeat and would have enjoyed using it daily and not worry about putting more miles on it

Future classics - RS2 Perfect title between 2004 & 2014
@80sAudiSport3 ай бұрын
Thanks for a nice presentation. Having a strong mooring in the Audi-camp, years ago I opted to purchase a Quattro ("urquattro"). An alternative at the time was the RS2. I guess in hindsight, the tad bit more modern - and more adaptable - specification of the 20V with EFI, combined with a super practical long roof, would have made so more sense nowadays when my family isn't bothered to tag along in a nimble-and-slow 2 door coupe, and generally roads chosen are higher speed limits and less bends than before. Seeing the title of this clip though has me divided. I believe the RS2 is going to hold on to its special place as an Audi milestone, as it has already for many years, begging to challenge the idea of 'future classic'. But, for a broader audience, and the Porsche oriented enthusiasts, maybe it is about being given the more open market recognition as a classic in these days. Regardless, it is a very nice car, and I would maybe say it is originating on the S2 Avant, which in turn is an interesting birth (the S2) as Audi initially didn't want to pursue these cars until another firm started building them with the intent of bringing an Audi back to rallying. Fun fact: Porsche in their marketing material showcased this car as 'Avant RS 2' ;)

The first hot estate is actually the 1988 VOLVO 850 ESTATE TURBO. 7 years before Audi released the RS2. The 850 ESTATE TURBO also has a domineering racing career, something the RS4 also does not have. I'm really very surprised Goodwood would get something this wrong.
