The TTRS is certainly the attention getter, and certainly more capable on a circuit. However driving an RS3 is like walking around town with a Desert Eagle inside your suit coat. You only get attention from those who know, and you can unleash the power whilst being very unsuspecitng to the masses.

Great video! Curious how such a difference in times when a TT RS with just a JB4 Stage 1 running a 30% E85 mix can run that exact same 1/4 mile time? I guess doing it on a prepped track makes up the difference. While I do love my TT RS I am jealous of that second cup holder in the RS3!
@VancityAudi3 жыл бұрын
3 things come to mind. 1st is the 30% ethanol tune. That fuel is around 100 octane at that content. You can run way more timing and boost on 100 octane fuel then you can 93 octane pump gas. 2nd thing is tires. They make a massive difference and these runs were on winter tires. Lastly is the prepped surface that you mentioned. The ability to launch hard out of the hole and get a substantially quicker ET is way easier to achieve on track.

RS3 is actually more aerodynamic from 62-124. at higher speed the increased length and less sloping back help with aerodynamics. The TT RS is more aerodynamic from 0-62.
@VancityAudi4 жыл бұрын
What proof do you have of your claim? The drag coefficient of the RS3 is 0.332. The TTRS is 0.32.
@dragonsickness45614 жыл бұрын
@@VancityAudi yes, but its only at certain speeds that this becomes a variable. The TT is still more aerodynamic overall at more speed ranges - just not the 62-124 range. The RS3 hits the "sweetspot" there. I saw it in a video on youtube. I'll link it if I can find it. The guy timed it.
@VtecAbuser4 жыл бұрын
Is this at altitude? Seems slow for the spec and the times you have run at the track (different fuel set up there I know).
@VancityAudi4 жыл бұрын
This is not at altitude and most certainly not slow. These runs are using pump gas with a splash of E85 and a stock turbo on the street, on winter tires. The low 10's and 135mph + traps you see at the track are on E85 (which has a 105 octane value) and done on radials or slicks. Not only that tracks are prepped and the street isn't
@VtecAbuser4 жыл бұрын
Vancity Audi ‘slow’ is the wrong word to use really, as it’s still daft quick in reality. It’s just many Stage 2 cars on pump fuel only have run these sort of Dragy times/speeds at full weight, hence asking if at altitude? Winter tyres won’t help though..
@VancityAudi4 жыл бұрын
@@VtecAbuser I'm only aware of a few other full weight RS3's that have run these times, but then again I am not scouring Dragy looking at pump gas times. Not all RS3's are built equally. That, the DA, tire choice, wheel choice, and more factors all come in to play with how quick and fast your car will go. Adam, what do you do for a living to afford a RS3, and modify it? I want to get one in the future, but they are pricier to buy, and to modify. Especially being Canadian, makes it even harder to modify cars. I have all my parts shipped state side, to get free shipping, plus I have to pay an extra 30-35% in money exchange, then 13% duty importing my shit back into Canada. It's wild all the extra costs, now a days. You must think about this to lots.
