I was excited for this review because you guys are usually very thorough and technical but this was a let down if I'm being honest. - The transmission isn't the same as the S5. It's a ZF but has different gear ratios for high speeds and track use. - The entire video you accelerated in "D" transmission mode which gives you slow comfort shifts. Should have been in S for sport and to get responsive snappy shifts in manual you have to first put the car in RS or Dynamic Mode, transmission in "S" sport mode, then move the gear lever to the right. - The special wheels that come with the competition package save 4 pounds of unsprung mass PER CORNER. They're incredibly light for stock wheels. - You guys mentioned how heavy this car is (and I agree it's not "light" like cars of old), but it's the same weight as an M3/M4 yet somehow those cars are track cars regardless? Lastly, I'm so surprised that you guys didn't even bother adjusting the coilovers to their track mode. Savagegeese is an enthusiast channel that actually drives and tracks cars and I can't believe you guys didn't play with the KW V4 derived adjustable coilovers that turn the car into an actual track capable car. The competition package they added to this car made it a ridiculous 20 seconds faster on the Nürburgring compared to the non-comp RS5s. 20 seconds is astronomical and that delta alone shows how much better the car is around corners. I'm disappointed with this video because it felt like a throw away which is unlike savagegeese. If you guys ever feel like trying this car again, let me know. I live in Minnesota and I’d be happy to throw you the keys to my RS5 Comp for as long as you'd like.

Agreed. The S5 has basically the same engine, transmission, and interior. (That last point, in particular, I think is a huge selling point because Audi gives you their best seats in the S5 while BMW makes you step up to the M3 to get the good seats.) Even the base RS5 can't really justify its price over the S5, let alone this competition version.

Of course you can modify the S suspension and get it there and tune the S and have the advantages of single turbo vs 2

I’m annoyed with these guys. The S5 at the track works but you can tell the computers and Nannie’s aren’t expecting you to drive like that and they get in the way a lot. The RS5 has the extra cooling required for the track and the Nannies are ready and they have a lap timer in the dash. Stephen Reil did a track tour with the original one when they introduced the car. It’s heavy but so is the 911 these days. I think these guys are a little too eager to classify things. The M3 and RS5 and 911 GTS and Z51 and C63 are all trying to do the same thing. A few thoughts from an RS5 (non-comp) owner. This businessman (how'd you know?!) does track it a couple times a year. The quattro helps being quick off the line. I've also spent a day tracking the M3 and M4. You mentioned the RS5 is too heavy to track, but isn't the M4 around the same weight? Pros: -Sleeper design, doesn't draw much attention but harder to pull baddies -hatch trunk -minimal screen usage, I prefer hard buttons Cons: -maintenance/reliability has been iffy (get the extended warranty) -exhaust is muted, no character -jerkier shifting than the M3/M4 -doesn't hold value well IMO, it IS track capable car even if it's a bit heavy. I've only changed pads/fluid so far. I think 444 hp and 0-60 in the 3s is more than enough, I'm not trying to kill myself out there. I don't think the competition package is worth it. The car doesn't hold value well. If I had to do it all over again, I would probably get a manual blackwing.

Why is the comparison of the RS5 Competition always to competitors that are either crass “look at me” symbols of virility. Sure they have better 0 to 60 times and act in unpredictable ways unlike the RS5 which is reassuringly predictable (in a good way). Both the C63 and the M3 are definitely not as good a daily driver as the RS5. I changed over from a C43 wagon to a ‘24 RS5 Competition Sportback earlier this year and as a 50+ year old guy, I was looking for a balanced but powerful, sleek, understated daily driver which this car definitely is. The C43 made louder noises but frankly it got tiring. The cockpit of the RS5 is incredibly comfortable and while some will say it is dated, I prefer traditional screens and controls to glass screens everywhere. Cornering is incredibly good without any understeer as far as I could sense, and it takes on long sweeping curves without the slightest hint of body roll. Having driven a 2021 RS5 with the adaptive suspension which I felt was too soft in comfort mode and too jarring in dynamic mode, so I prefer the coil overs even though I will never track this car. As far as sound, in RS mode it’s more than enough enjoyment for the driver - who cares about the audience as long as I’m having a good time. I also noticed that in the video the car was being driven in D and manual mode - was it not tested in RS mode?
