People who complain that this car suffers from understeer have never really tried pushing it; the S3 is a really great all round handling machine. So long as you don't expect Porsche levels of handling, this thing will happily take on a track any day

It did understeer in this video. As an ex Audi owner…they are great all rounders but they lack sportiness and are a bit dull when it come do driver enjoyment

@@davidbestea4221that copy paste opinion it’s invalid, since I’m not a professional pilot driving all day on a circuit, I enjoy more the S3 than a BMW M2.

I feel like people just repeat what some reviewer says online. Does it handle like a Miata? Not even close. But these cars aren't even close to as bad as people claim them to be. My RS3, which is even heavier on the front, has never understeered on a public road. I like to driver a "little" faster on a twisty backroad, but you'd have to be driving it at absolutely criminal speeds for that to happen. On track, well yes it does happen, but thats to be expected.

@@13CoBrA95 Preach! I think people need to understand what they're buying before going into insane criticisms about something. The S3 is an amazing comapct all-rounder daily driver car. It's the jack of all trades (great handling but not superb, excellent power, but not insane, great for road trips but not for large groups of people, etc...) If it's too small, then the S4 is your next step (but you do lose some of that fun driving dynamic that the S3/RS3 give you). Every car is purpose built. Figure out what you want, then get it!

Add a thicker anti-roll bar, $150, and the car trail brakes. Add some stiffer mounts/inserts to trans/engine/subframe connections, and good vibes come through. An extra 100 lbs. of sound deadening softens those vibes and elevates the stereo. The point is, no perfect car exists. I think an M3 is a well-tamed boat, but it's the next person's hype car. But find a good platform with a good aftermarket and make it into what you want.

Santiago just WOW. I have bought the S3 a few months ago and I know it curves very well but you my friend you have nerves of steel. Absolutely fantastic. Are you using the PZero tires from factory?

Francisco Correia thanks a lot! I wish my car have that tyres, but unfortunately it came with Bridgestone Turanza from factory. Just waiting to “kill” them to fit something more sporty and suitable for a track day or just a sunny Sunday on the road :) I used to have PS4 S in my last car and that was superb!

mr. powerslide, press the gas to get traction out of those corners instead of waiting for the powerslide to stop. so when you start sliding in the corners, press the gas, don't just slide. the car won't flip, it can handle those corners if you stay on the gas......you bought Quattro....use it!

If you had an S3 you would know that acceleration will cause a lot of understeer. Best cornering speed is with little or no power.

It was switched off. I forgot to do it at the beginning 😅😅 I basically prefer to do it since these cars love to kill rear brake pads when it’s on.

Banner Le thank you very much for the comment! The car is completely stock in therms of specs. stock brakes, engine and tyres (Bridgestone Turanza) The only parts I changed are the springs. I have H&R :)

Banner Le it’s a bit more stiffer and sharp when you drive into curves. I really like how it works. And it’s not so uncomfortable for daily use.

Víctor López Lekunberri Hola, es una S-Tronic de 7 velocidades bañada en aceite (húmeda). Es la que lleva el restyling, más suave y aguanta más par motor por si quieres potenciar. Es la misma del RS3. En el pre restyling el coche iba con 6 marchas. Las cajas de 7 en seco la lleva el 1.5 gasolina en el restyling y los pre 1.4 y 1.8, siente tfsi. Los diésel montan 6 húmedas. Espero haberte ayudado.

Estoy por cambiar mi Cupra 300 por un S3. Lo unico que me preocupa es el understeer que tiene. Es mucho el understeer que se siente? Tengo pensado poner coilovers y anti roll bar a ver si corrijo algo el coche. Gracias

Juan Covilla si actualmente tienes un Cupra con plataforma mqb entiendo que estás al tanto que son primos de plataforma uno y otro. Es tu Cupra 4drive o tracción delantera? Otra cosa a tener en cuenta es que el S3 en su facelift también tuvo una revisión de su haldex. Sobre el understeer que comentas, yo no he notado nada raro. Es más, me parece un coche extremadamente noble de conducir, con un paso por curva muy seguro. Lo único que cambie fueron los muelles por unos más duros para que no balanceara tanto la carrocería. Lo del understeer es algo que he leído por primera vez hace dos semanas en una prueba y bueno... también depende mucho del background del que conduce y los coches que ha probado. En tu caso, viniendo de un coche “similar” lo único que harás es ganar en más nobleza y neutralidad.

@@santiagoportalupisanchez7126 Es traccion delantera y va como una bala sin understeer al momento de acelerar en una curva y saliendo de ella. Me he decidido por un S3 facelift porque vivo en Inglaterra y tenemos mucha lluvia durante el ano y al cupra le cuesta ganar traccion. Quedo mas tranquilo con tu respuesta. Gracias

I have the impression that you drive a bit too far from the steering wheel. I wouldn't feel comfortable driving on a track with my arms streched like that, but, i guess you are used to it.

Hi! Thanks for your comment! As you said in your second message, it’s more the gopro camera effect. I tried many configurations on where to place the seat and steering wheel and I like to go this way most of the time. I don’t know, I feel self confident, driving like a sir haha. Too many laps here and I feel is almost like a highway.
