This is similar to BMW and how they under rate their motors. Take for example the N54 on the 3 series 335i, stock is 300hp, when you had a $479.00 piggy back tune to it, you go up to almost 370hp - just from the tune, not mentioning the down pipes, or the inter cooler or intake. The Germans really know how to squeeze every last bit of performance out of their engines. These are sleeper cars.

William, this was a comparison to show how close these 2 cars can be in terms of power output with just a little bit of money/tune thrown at the new 3.0 Supercharged Audi engine. For the small investment needed, an S4 owner with the supercharged power train can end up with NEAR RS4 straight line performance. Any RS owner will likely still frown upon such statistics as there is more to tuning than simple power output. I own a 2010 S5 "Daytona Grey" Coupe (4.2L 8 cylinder) with the 6 spd manual transmission (perhaps 1 or only a handful ever built) and i love my 8 cylinder engine regardless of what tuners can do with the forced induction power plant. My 8 cylinder makes erotic and awesome noises the 6 cylinder could only DREAM about. Tis the wonderful difference between so many of the automobiles we car enthusiasts own...sound, performance, looks, branding, etc. Great video Chris Harris..keep them coming!!!

Every single video that includes something related to Audi there's 90% of BMW and Mercedes fans saying that their fav. automaker is "way better than Audi" and I'm quite getting tired of it, most of them come from places like the U.S., where Audi isn't really known for what it is, I've had the chance of driving a 535i (it handled nice but it was like if it's engine wasn't there) and a MBenz E350 (I have to confess that it was a really nice car) but the Audi A6 is the one I kept, it has lot of safety features and lots of technology. For all those who are saying RWD > AWD I reply to them "Really? did you even get your car to its limiter? how many times when you are driving on the road did you exceed 200 kph? And why would you even need so much acceleration? (FYI 2014 Audi A6 3.0T does 0-60 in 5.7s when the 535i (non xDrive) does 5.9 s) Search youtube for Nose - Tush or even standard drag races between an A6 and a 535i, then come back and comment. I also had my 2008 1.8 TSi VW Passat CC tuned by Revo Pros: + Lots more power and a MOUNTAIN load more torque!! It gives the car the power to match its looks, and goes faster than say a Golf GTI now. + Even better fuel consumption than standard while cruising. + Harder/snortier engine note. Cons: - The extra pressure created caused several air leaks in the turbo piping (my car was only 4 years old with 60k miles) and more than a £1000 pounds later trying to get it fixed at various garages.. a leak still pops up somewhere after a few days. The leaking air causes power losses and car jerks under acceleration. I'm depressed and have given up trying to fix it, I just don't accelerate the car hard many more. And no one wants to buy it now. - The Revo remap only runs on RON 98+ Super Unleaded fuel. - Black smoke through exhaust. CONCLUSION: Just buy a fucking BMW 330i or M3!

Sorry to hear that, seems these guys don't bother to tell their customers about the consequences of re-mapping without supporting mods - happy to take peoples money and run I guess. There is nothing wrong with tuning, but to make big power you have to do it right - just changing the factory maps to output this kind of power without adding supporting mods to keep the car healthy is always going to end badly. My advise, find out what other owners of your specific type of vehicle have done, and what problems they have had before you do any tuning. Owners groups are usually the best place to start for advice on what upgrades you need to do before messing with boost and mix.

Indeed, just because you can do something doesn't mean the stock engineering can deal with it. My car stock had 270kw/550nm, you can change the standard mapping and get 350+ with the standard kit & it'll run fine on pump fuel for a while, but if you don't add some supporting mods in - bigger intercooler, uprated injectors, cat-back exhaust as a minimum, you are not going to have a reliable car any more. Generally OEM turbo setups have a little bit of overhead in them, but if you push them this far without supporting mods, something has to give sooner or later. This was filmed over a year ago - I wonder if the car is still running?

I went in a friends Audi S4/estate tonight, was about 350 BHP and felt very very rapid, the DSG box is the equiv of at least another 60 BHP, the way it chewed through the gears was impressive, it wasn't far off a skyline GTR, with a few mods it would easy give a GTR something to worry about. And it had a baby seat in the back. Impressive. But apparently it does shit MPG around 20 normal driving, we drone back from the cinema, 6 mile trip, 1/3 of which was gunning it and the rest normal, and it did 15 MPG. Not sure that is an exception, but that might be a problem for some people.

We tested a S5 Sportback, basically the same car as the S4, with and without the Revo remap, it also had 100 ron fuel and aftermarket air filters. Results? Stock: 350hp. Revo-ed: 434hp. Once we finished with it it had 448 hp and it was way faster then the RS5. Obviously I would at least double the oil checks...

I must've watched this video 10 times by now. I have a B8.5 S4 and I would love to get it Revo tuned but there is only one company in New Zealand that does it and they're a couple of thousand km away from me. Oh well, even in stock form it's fast enough to get you in trouble so I'll just have to enjoy it the way Audi made it.

Contact Peter at superchips nz. They’re on fb. Had my Q5 tdi done and made big improvement. Just got an s5 and doing next month.
@The.JZA.3 жыл бұрын
@@zippycentral Cheers. I had a look at his website. Does he make the tunes or is he selling Revo/another brands tune? Revo, I.E. etc spend thousands of hours developing and testing their tunes to ensure the best balance of performance and longevity of the engine. I remember reading somewhere that Revo had bought an S4 and done thousands of km of testing on it to make sure that the tune was as good and safe as it could be. I found an NZ based website called "alittletuningco.nz" that sells Integrated Engineering tunes for the S4/S5 for $1630 including the dongle that you need to load the tune on. I think I'll go that route if I decide the bite the bullet.
@shaunald11 жыл бұрын
Go with APR tuning instead. The founder of Revo is a former employee who stole their technology, You can read all about the lawsuits on the APR legal page. I have the APR ECU flash in my S4 and its a freaking rocket.

***** Not at all. As a business owner with proprietary intellectual property of my own, I refuse to support a company that infringes on copyright laws. Besides, I am extremely happy with my APR tuning and will always recommend something that is tried, tested and true. Whatever your choice in tuners is, you'll be happy with a tuned S$. I just have business ethic standards that are not in line with REVO.

That's chip-tuning turbocharged cars for ya. But you still need hardware mods to get *real* power boost. For instance, if you started with A4 rather than S4, you'd have to replace injectors, intercooler, and probably the fuel pump. Of course, you started with an S4 which already has many things upgraded.

I look on compares to this, a company in Sweden that use MTM tune say the stage 1 tune from them give the S4 100hp+ and 100nm torque for around 1000€, also included is a gearbox strengthening if you dont have manual and they take away the 155mph speed limiter.

The engine will still last because its not being over stressed. Car companies always limit engines to fit rules or simply because they need it to be slower. In this case as Chris says, its made slower so it doesn't compare to the RS4. But the tune up means the engine percentage capacity is simply turned up a bit, without going too far.
