I just bought a 2018 S5 with 27k miles. A little concerned because my wife had a 2015 Q7 with some issues and they were all costly. Have you had any engine issues? What are your thoughts on general maintenance? Is this a car you feel comfortable taking to a 15 minute oil change place?

I'm checking one out next week. A 2011 S5 with about 100K miles. Only 1 owner, always maintained at the Audi dealership garage. Any specific things / issues to pay attention for when test driving it?

Awesome review! I went ahead and purchased my Audi S5 b8.5 with 57,000 miles, it is a 2015 manual. I left a comment before and you left a great recommendation and thank you for that. I am a huge Audi guy (VW GROUP) and I was looking at the car anyways, but your videos really helped nudge me in the right direction. Thanks again and keep up the Great work!

I like how 60kmiles is considered to be some kind of reliability milestone. Well engineered car should not break down at 60kmiles, since when this is even something to make a video about? I could understand if it was about hitting 160kmiles, but realistically it won’t hit it without transmission repairs, blown cats and other b8 s4 ownership “pleasures”. I do now think that for an s4, 100kmiles is really high, though

Informative video thank you. Love the S5. Only problem is those “small” issues like an inconveniently placed pot hole wind up costing 4x more than you would think with an Audi. I had an A4, loaded, incredible car - style and driving experience fantastic. Around year 4, repair costs started piling up. Yet here I am, considering the S5 watching your video lol.

Here’s my take on the Audi A5 . I have a 2012 3.0 tdi Sportback auto ( moonlight blue, great colour ) with 70,000 miles I have owned the car for 2 years and dine 12,000 miles.. Firstly as an ‘older guy’ here in the UK I am not looking for anymore power than is not already available in this car. In those 2 years I I have never needed the to drop the auto into sport to overtake anything, the power is simply enough to overtake any normal car and to push it further would be simply racing. I understand others may simply enjoy the availability of further power. Here’s my real reason for posting is to explain that I have had zero maintenance issues with this engine and I don’t think this is unusual here in the UK. As long as a normal maintenance programme is followed it is bulletproof. It is also an economic car to run and looks awesome as you know. Just a few words to explain that you don’t necessary need the extra HP to enjoy the A5 experience ( but maybe stick with the auto 3.0 litre tdi). Happy motoring.

I'm at 95k with no major issues. Just the slow stop bucking (no trans tune), tight parking lot turn transfer case binding (apparently normal says audi), and cold start chain rattle for 5 seconds. Ill almost certainly be removing the engine soon.

I just cancelled my order for a 2011 RS5 B8 to get the 2016 S5 B8.5 and I think I’ve made the right choice! This has a lot more drivability and it is cheaper to run, insure and tax! Also it’s the facelift model with extra mod cons!!
@KevG4 жыл бұрын
Made the right choice in my opinion. Best of luck with the purchase! Plus, the 3.0TFSI can rip right around the same as the RS5. I'm confident you'll be pleased with the performance. Thanks for checking out the video!

I’m at 115k with my 2014 s5. It’s honestly been so reliable and maintenance hasn’t been that bad so far (knock on wood) just regular oil changes/fluids/ brakes/tires. One thing I personally want is more power should I try to upgrade to the rs5 or should I try to mod the s5.

Sorry about the A5.. This car has been great for me. Like I mentioned in the video, the only major expenses were avoidable (potholes and rotors from overheating). The only real downside is wanting to add more mods constantly😂The potential power gains are awesome with this platform. Feel free to check out my other videos for things like tuning, performance, 0-60, etc. I also daily drive this is Michigan so it’s nice to have good snow tires with the Audi Quattro. Makes me wish I didn't trade my 2016 s5 with a manual for my current 2019. Like the engine in the 2016 better and miss the manual more than anything. But I couldn't stand looking at the old interior anymore and the mmi system compared to the 2019 along with the virtual cockpit isn't even close. But as a drivers car the 16 was better. Could be just because of the manual though. Biggest mistake Audi ever made was not offering a manual anymore. Never had any issues with the 2016 other than needing new tires. I had the 20 inch factory wheels with the black optics plus package and it seemed like every single little bump i hit would make a tire go flat
