Another excellent vid Andy, good point about disconnecting the battery! That looks so straight forward even I could do it...and at some point I may well have to. I'm glad you also wore eye protection, you don't see that enough in TT repair videos. ;)

OK Mister Wizard! I followed your video and it was dead on target. I removed the passenger seat as well as the incapacitated shock but from here I deviated from your instruction because my circumstances loaned themselves toward a different solution. My wife is the only passenger I ever have along with me and is only 4'11" so I only need one setting "UP AS HIGH AS I COULD RAISE IT!" Some simple measurements as regards the fully extended shock provided the appropriate length I could us to measure and drill some scrape bar metal and replace the shock! IT WORKED FANTASTICALLY! Reinstalled the wiring harness plugs and stepped back to admire the result of my labor. Then it showed its ugly rays of light! The airbag light is on. I followed your tips and inspected the plugs and receptacles but absolutely NOTHING I do solves the problem of the light remaining on. All the plugs appear fine, no bare wires that I can locate, and no blown fuses. I even disconnected the battery for 20 or 30 seconds to try and reset the computer, with no success! Soooooooooo, oh wizard of all things Audi TT, any more tips I can try. Just to help, mine is a state-side 2001 Audi TT Quattro convertible.

Hi Stephen. My advice would be to plug an OBDII reader into the socket and clear all codes. You may find now it’s plugged in again you just need to clear the code to put the light out 👍

@@andycharger I'm all in on the reset idea! Will the Carly OBDII scanner do the job or is there a better suggestion?
@andycharger Жыл бұрын
@@stephenhancock2974 most of the OBDII readers allow you to reset/clear the codes so try that and see how you get on!

"When the student is ready, the teacher will appear." I'm replacing my ripped & torn baseball's with pretty nice ones from a totaled roadster. $400. Shipping and driving the 800 or so miles came out about the same so, being an, "Any excuse for a run," person . . . As soon as the heated seats control buttons row is replaced, I'll do the seats with the laptop running this on the bench. Again, Andy, I am in your debt. You are a natural born teacher. The cardboard bolt sorter aid, exquisite.

We have got to get together. Would you be able to sandwich in time for a handshake ? Where will you be ? A good road trip would be perfect this time of year. I'm only a day away from the east coast in Delaware, OH. How can we communicate and connect ? Yes, I'm installing a replacement button strip where the left heated seat button doesn't fall into a hole when you press on it. Thank you for asking. I'm also doing the shifter bushings. Is there anything I can bring you ? KZbin Vicelse8980. Have the best day.@@andycharger

Thanks for providing the part numbers Andy. I'm interested in the height adjuster mechanism where the handle clips in, mine's broken

I thought that was my problem before i looked. I think the struts fail and people push on the handle too hard. you may be able to pick up a handle 2nd hand and swap it out

For the price of seats and interiors, it might be worth buying a 2nd set of seats and removing the subframes and reusing due to the horrendously expensive struts!

Hi chigley. I’m not sure you could do an awful lot with the rails to sit the seats further back. I guess a roadster with the roof down might be an impractical solution!

@andycharger3 жыл бұрын
Hi Quasir. Have you checked the various fuses? I cover that on my channel if you need to look at the fusebox location and what they do. Also worth making sure the wiring loom is plugged in underneath too. I doubt the element in the feat would fail without blowing the fuse. Have a look and let me know how you get on!

Thanks for your many videos on the Audi TT! When you refitted your seat, did you notice an Airbag light on your dashboard when you turned the car back on? If so, how do you remove it?
@andycharger3 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for your kind words. My light did not come on.I would say check a couple of things. First make sure that the connections are 100% connected right under the seat. If it persists, use an OBDII scanner to look at the fault codes and clear them down. See if it reoccurs. Let me know if you get and codes up! 👍

Hi Andy, in 0:59 I noticed that the base of the seat wobbles a bit, is it a fault or the seat's design?
@andycharger5 ай бұрын
hi there. Neither. I had not engaged the raise/lower handle at the side of the seat that adjusts the base height!
