I watched two other “guides” on replacing coils and plugs and this is the only one that didn’t make it seem like a complicated job, shortest video too. All around solid vid I followed the steps to a T and it took me 30 minutes tops. Don’t waste your money on a coil puller just make sure the engine is hot enough.

Just did this today on a 2014 Jetta with the 1.8T Gen3. Used the NGK 94833, and the APR MS100203 from the last FCP Euro sale. Car has 128k miles and the original coils were still in it from factory. Spark plugs were changed at 60K at the dealer. With a warm engine the coils came out easy. The spark plugs had some buildup on them, and the service was due, so I hope it will perform as new now. I had no misfires or issues before, just did it because it hit the 120K miles. 30 minute job, and test drive went fine!

Thank you for making this! I think a shot of the inside of one of those connectors would be helpful to show folks new to these (me) what youre trying to do with the pick. I ended up snapping each of the plastic clips on the coil packs just a little while removing the connectors, but not enough to cause a problem.

Sorry we missed getting a clear shot of that Griffin! Glad they didnt completely snap off for you though.

I found that using a thinner flat head screw driver and inserting it in the plastic box area on the front of the harness that’s attached to the coil pack and then prying gently out toward me to lift the tab enough over that little tooth and THEN pushing up is a better way of getting the harness off. I struggled for about ten minutes. Once I used this method it was quick moving.

1. No spark plug Anti Seize on the plug threads? 2. Any recommendations on how to clean the inner spark plug cavity?
@Trebor-gw8lt Жыл бұрын
Never, ever use antiseize on the plugs. Modern plugs come with a plated thread coating that resists seizing.

Does the harness make a snapping sound when you connect it back to the coil pack? Mine did not (and I didn't hear it in your video), and I'm worried that they aren't connected properly.
@elbojoloco3 жыл бұрын
Putting the coil pack on usually does not make a snapping sound, just push it all the way down till it won't go any further and that's it.
